FTTP/FTTH - Switching provider

I got FTTP/FTTH broadband through BT. I am trying to switch to different provider but no one else can take over this line. None of the providers can even detect my existing connection. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Basically I am stuck with BT unless I pay someone else to install new line.

Which providers have tried?

Very few retail ftth in the first place

I have tried plusnet, ee, sky, and talk talk. None of them can locate my line or offer fiber broadband. I do have voice over fiber too through bt.

Of those only plusnet has touched ftth and only asca trial for existing customers.

AAISP Claranet and Zen are SME type providers who might do openreach FTTH but essentially for consumers main option is BT Consumer

I am shortly having FTTP with FVA installed by BT. I am interested in why you want to leave them for another provider.

There is no issue with the service but if you can't move the service to different provider then you are stuck with their prices. BT is increasing the prices in December. It will be nearly £30/month for 76Mb fiber. Plusnet is only charging £20/month for the same speed connection.

If you wanted to switch you'd surely just have to cancel your BT FTTP and just order a copper based broadband service instead.

Yes but then I have to pay for setup fee for new connection. It would have been much easier if we can transfer FTTP/FTTH between providers.

But that would be ADSL2+ at best. Not very inviting after 76/20Mbps.

Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 56.6/14.1Mbps @ 600m. - BQM
