Inconsistencies ...

Time for a rant!


So, BTs dslchecker using phone number comes back with speeds of 7.9 to 4.5 clean and 5.9 to 3 impacted. Go to BT Business to order a new service and it only gives ADSL options and not VDSL options not even the options for those at the low end.

The Openreach checker - using phone number reports:

Status: Accepting orders

You are served from a fibre enabled cabinet however your line speed may not be suitable for superfast fibre broadband. Please contact your Service Provider who will have details on the best possible speed options.

What is going on?

I need to get this person migrated from a sub 1Mbps ADSL to something a little faster and their current provider does not offer any FTTC based products. And thee are very few options as we need Next Business Day repair and fixed IP so everything points to a business grade product.

Plenty of other business providers than BT Business

BT is known for only selling its 'superfast' services to people whose estimate is over 15 Mbps, so look at the alternatives like IDNet, Zen, TalkTalk Business, AAISP

I actually know of several sub-15 customers on BT Business.

As for te others - Zen, TT & maybe IDNet are ruled out because of "business political" reasons which I have not control over! And IDNet are EXPENSIVE! Unlimited download - £63/month plus £20/month for NBD support, plus £6 as line rental will not be with them ... Need to check AA although that could well be expensive too.

Previously they were coming back with ADSL only, however they now have a Fibre option. Could be a solution although BT will certainly be cheaper - if I could get them to accept the order.
