Re: Place Your Bets

[re: ukwiz] [link to this post]

I don't know but for the first of the two visits (the external one) they say that access is not required so you do not have to be there but I requested that I was told when they were coming. They agreed to that but it did not happen without a lot of effort and then they did not turn up when I was told they would.
The reasons why I wanted to be there were so I could tell them where I wanted the CSP to be placed so it was within 30 metres of where the ONT has to eventually go (not the obvious place) and also so I could move livestock out of the way in preparation for their visit.
Whether the fact that they state you do not have to be there but can request to be informed would change the rules for compensation is a moot point.

Slight hiccup.

The man came out to prune the trees, did not do anything but said he would be back. Couple of days later not heard anything from him. Today BT rang up to arrange visits to install the fibre and were most surprised when I told them the trees had not been dealt with as their system said the tree man had been. I said yes he had been but he had not done anything. Oh says they, we will get back to you.

Wait and see I guess.

Wrong sort of ladder?

The indispensable man or woman passes from the scene, and what happens next is more or less the same thing as was happening before.
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync 57676/14040kbps @ 600m. - BQM

Possibly!
He had his Landrover and a chipper but I did not see a ladder at all........

I think he came out more for a recce really and when he saw there was a lot to do including tree felling as well as large branches off several oak trees he decided he would rather come back but of course the system would have told BT he had been and they assume that means job done.

If it was a guy on his own then the size of the job may have driven a need for at least 2 people for H&S...

I wasn't blaming the guy, I think it was just an assessment of the job. It is just the system somehow did not allow BT to see that the visit had taken place but the job was not completed.
There were two guys, one stayed in the cab of the Landrover. I just hope the tree guy comes and does the job soon, been several days since he was here.
What does H&S stand for by the way?

I was just giving a possible explanation for why they didn't do the job - but my guess was wrong anyway wink

H&S = Health and Safety - ie needing someone to hold a ladder, needing appropriate ropes/pulleys/etc if chopping a tree down, etc, etc.

Well BT rang again yesterday (Wednesday) to ask if the trees had been dealt with now.
Nope, no sign of the tree man.
The BT person sounded a bit frustrated and told me they had rung the tree surgeon people who had given an assurance they would be doing the work Monday or Tuesday. BT person then said 'I will have to ring them again and then get back to you'.
Nothing so far.
To be continued......
