Ok so what would normally happen run a new cable from the cab to the pole?
I doubt there is such a thing as 'normally'.

It depends where exactly there is a problem. Ultimately I don't think it'll do you any good if you did know exactly what is needed. BT will eventually come back to you with timescales and possibly a cost. You then either give them the go ahead or you don't.

As another poster suggested I would expect it to be a matter of weeks, if not months.

I already have a phone line installed at the address

NO. As you have already been advised - you have a copper wire from house to pole. You do NOT have a phone line.

So someone stole the rest from the pole to the cabinet? Last person at the address had a working service.
As you can see, it isn't clear from your post whether it is just no pair available for your FTTC order, but you do have a working phone service, or whether you don't have a phone service either.

If missing just the FTTC then it will be a pair between the phone (PCP) and FTTC cabinets that is needed.

In reply to a post by Ribble:
As previously mentioned , it's likely that at least part of the old line has been used for another. If there are no spare lines available then a new cable maybe required.

Why do you keep on opening up new threads? It's quite confusing.
