Got email from openreach ian binks was confirmed that my exchange cuckoo oak will be bringing g.fast to 27 cabinets by 2018. smile

That's *really* interesting: It gives us some idea of the way that BT are thinking about cabinets...

Right now, codelook tells us that:
- Cuckoo Oak has precisely 27 cabinets, and no remaining EO bundles.
- 15 cabinets were given FTTC commercially
- Those 15 cabinets are the only ones currently live
- 11 cabinets have been planned for FTTC, subsidised by BDUK. Not yet live
- 1 cabinet has no NGA plans at all.

So... Openreach appear to be planning to put a G.Fast pod at every single cabinet. And that includes cabinets that have been upgraded commercially, cabinets that have been upgraded with BDUK subsidy, and a cabinet that has remained without an NGA service plan.

Interesting on that. but I don't understand why is one cabinet has no planned of FTTC? Very odd for cuckoo oak to have 99% out of 100% for FTTC cabinets, just 1% isn't on planned.

I hope to get it - on a 80/20 sync my hopes of being able to get the higher speeds are high!

Should be! I always connected at higher sync rate 80/20 for over 2 years now. Much closer to the cabinet approx 200-250 meter away as my downstream attenuation are 11.3dB. I do remembered that openreach engineer say my line length to the cabinet (fibre) are 250 meter away.

I think G.Fast can get 330/50 for any length between 50 to 300 meter, if I was correct?

Not with the hardware currently available.

The existing trials are getting, very roughly,
- 300Mbps+ out to 150m
- 200Mbps out to 200m
- 100Mbps out to 250m

That is using hardware that meets the initial G.Fast standard, or possibly the "amendment 1" changes.

However, to get the better range, the hardware needs to meet the "amendment 2" changes. This is where BT hopes for 350Mbps (combined speed) at 350m ... but even that isn't a certainty yet. The hardware may be out by the end of 2017.

Interesting! I'll ask someone higher up the food chain than Ian what the score is with all this. Quite surprised there are plans for exchanges up to 2018 already, let alone specifics on which cabinets, and even more surprised he saw fit to tell a random online about them.

I would've expected this information to be released to CPs first.

I'll report back to the forum when I hear back.

Hi Ignitionnet
Since you are going to ask them - can you do me a favour and ask how many cabs are they planning to enable at Langside, which is one of their Jan 2017 pilot locations?
Thanks!

Sorry, it's not really our business unless they want to announce it to their customers. Even if I were given such information in private it would stay that way for obvious reasons. Asking for commercially sensitive information then advertising that you got it, alongside who provided it on a forum is rarely a good idea.

My request was more along the lines of asking if these details are available yet, and if they are when the plans for everything are going to be made available, so everyone benefits.

If it ends up no such information was passed it saves them getting a bunch of requests for information. Everyone's a winner either way.
