Another email from openreach, this time not from Ian. Different person has confirmed that no one's at openreach headquarters wouldn't know of which exchange or caninets for g.fast roll out next year. So, he say for Cuckoo Oak as a smaller exchange might not getting g.fast but probably very few cabinets will benefits from it, more likely my cabinet wouldn't get it. frown He say have to wait next summer for BT to confirmed phase 1 roll out lists on the ispreview or thinkbroadband or on the openreach press release.

Ian doesn't work for Openreach. According to him he told you nothing.

How dare you name drop someone to indulge your own fantasies. Your nonsense could've cost the man his job.

Is it likely BTO have already decided which exchanges and cabinets would get g.fast when they were adding fibre backhaul capacity for FTTC? I would think they do not want to go through the duct clearing again if they can help it, and so have already laid enough fibre for the backhaul and between the exchange and cabinets for those where they knew they would deploy g.fast?

From comments here it seems small 250 property exchanges are unlikely to ever get g.fast. Agreed?

Openreach didn't add anything for smaller exchanges. They connected individual cabinets back to a central aggregation point. Whether those cabinets were serving one exchange area passing 10,000 premises or 10 exchanges passing 1,000 premises each is irrelevant.

Now in more generic news, the size of the Cuckoo Oak exchange is irrelevant and to pass the 10 million premises by 2020 with ultrafast needs over 27,000 cabinets to be upgraded according to this fine website.

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/7453-how-many-g-f...

Your exchange is parented by Telford Wellington, so enabling of the 10Gb CableLink to allow G.fast will happen there.

Telford Wellington also parents at least Donnington, Dawley, Stirchley, Newport, itself obviously, Oakengates, Hollinswood, Shifnal, Great Bolas, Weston under Lizard, Norton, and Great Chatwell, so there are plenty of opportunities for G.fast to be deployed to some of those.

It's quite likely that some of Cuckoo Oak will receive G.fast at some point. There are some pretty large cabinets that tick the boxes for customers within range.

The model for 10 million with minimum number of cabinets or 10 million with minimum number not getting ultrafast at https://labs.thinkbroadband.com/local/index.php?tab=... shows some in Cuckoo Oak area might be feasible

Of course what Openreach does may be very different from that model but if digressing it would increase the number of cabinets needed and costs - but with actual known take-up levels in areas that is likely to give a different output.

Will be interesting in a few years to overlay live G.fast with that map smile And send Openreach a bill if its 75% right or better.
