I think the sync speed was actually 58.81 at that point

Was it, maybe its my eyes playing tricks on me again, getting over an eye infection (whole eye blood shot) and it still hurts a little when focusing on things frown

Puzzled to say the least just taking the phone jack out of the test socket and into the master faceplate [carefully] ?

Is there anything else connected to the master faceplate that could introduce noise?

Ordinarily all that is in the master is a DECT phone master for 3 other phones which aren't plugged in, and like a dummy when I ran these tests tonight I had the phone in the micro filter too.

Update, I moved upstairs and tested both routers in the "office" socket and got 31 down and 7 up !

Definately food for thought I'll try at least to redo the test & master sockets again without that master phone plugged in. Thanks

Just to mention that the DECT phone was also in the microfilter when using the Test Socket and the result was still the best speed I've seen. Is there anything different about the test socket that makes it less vulnerable to noise?

It removes any internal wiring and sockets from the circuit.

Poor internal wiring can act as an antenna picking up rogue signals that can interfere with your broadband

Test with warnings

Can someone please expand on likely reasons why I keep getting these test warning?
I have never seen such LOW / frequent needle swings on the TBB speed tester in my previous life as an Infinity 1 customer. Note: this still happens with a 2 metre ethernet cable straight into the master socket (with / without the new faceplate I mention below) using a 1Gbps ethernet connection

- My two lines on the graph have always been very close.

- I haven't changed my internal wiring *

- I believe my provider move has taken me from BT Retail to BT Wholesale which I am told by the OR engineer meant a "Lift and Shift" to another card slot in the cabinet

- I believe the new slot/line either has a fault or is impacted in some way

- I'm told by the new ISP that the line is "Clean" but at the slower end of the scale. [my observation is it's [b]slower than the BT Infinity1 I had]

Can I apply for a completely new phone number and get on another Cabinet which is nearer [I'm 750metres from my cabinet and there is a nearer one now] especially as the phone line is supposed to be taken over by the new ISP on the 21st March.? [I know this is a dumb question, but as a dummy if you don't ask...]

Apart from one/two test using the test socket (other test socket test were good but I actually had 2 that exceeded what I had ever seen before by +6Mbps)

* I got a new VDSL2 + Phone Faceplate today from Maplins and i still can't reach let alone exceed the speeds I was getting on Infinity 1 but on 80/20 up to max of 64Mbps - I was using the VSDL2 port NOT the Test Socket

If this is getting boring me bleating on about this stuff just let me know and I'll go away frown
Jamie

PS when I test the link to the TBB test result it doesn't show the warning I received sadly

You won't be connected to a cabinet of your choice.

The network is bespoke and as such, new cables cannot just be ran simply because you're closer.

I figured as much but mentioned it to convey my frustration. Any thoughts on the rest of the post though?

BT Retail use BT Wholesale.
Migrations use the same port on the cabinet, no matter who you change to/from. It's in the Head-End exchange that physical changes are made. Nobody even needs to visit your local fibre cabinet.
