BT say its an up to service and that the speeds will drop when everyone comes home from school and work etc.
They also told me on the phone that I was told this when I ordered Infinity 4, which was a lie I wasn't told any speeds, and I specially wasn't told of a minimal speed that its allowed to drop too before its classed as a fault.
I did tell them, No the up to statement is for the ADSL and FTTC due to the speed is dependent on the length of the copper wire that the line is using and then there is crosstalk, so you cannot guarantee a fixed speed.
And FTTP isn't affected by this issues, so its not an up to service, they disagreed with me.
I then went on to say its where you cram way to many connections together which is fine from about 1am to about 16:30, and when everyone comes home from work or school it takes a beating.
They went on to say, that I was the only one that has reported this issue and to wait for 10 days for the line to stable, I laughed and said "wait for what to stable, its FTTP and there is nothing to stable", which they said there is.
I then said that if I am the only one reporting this then there must be an issue, they responded, not until it goes below 40Mbps.
Just shows that loads of BT staff have no clue what they are saying.
I just gave up after that due to it was all going round in circles and getting no where.
The worst I have had it is as low as 75Mbps for around 20 mins, but its normally as low as around 197Mbps from 16:30 to midnight.
BT also told me they won't class it as an issue until it drops below 40Mbit, which I think is a cheek considering what I am paying for.
I might shop around once the minimal contract is over, just a tad bit of an issue is that not many ISP support the 300Mbps FTTP Speeds.
But I am wondering if I can still have the phone via FVA and get the broadband via a different ISP.
