My brothers still capped at 55, he joined in August IIRC.

One of my neighbour friends across the road was on Infinity 1 via FTTP and he got a free upgrade to Infinity 2 (i.e. paying the Infinity 1 price p/m) when he subbed to BT TV 4K.
He got that last year, so BT were giving out free upgrades since then.

That's specific to BT TV 4K. They require a minimum of 44Mb to order the service. They throw in Infinity 2 free for 12 months all the time. They are then Infinity 2 customers and the price will go up after 12 months or they can recontract.

These upgrades are BT taking advantage of an OpenReach offer that's only been in effect since April. Talktalk have been moving many users from 40/2 to 40/10 as part of the offer.

With this deal the customer remains on Infinity 1, just at a higher speed.

I upgraded to FTTC just last week, with activation early in November - I have been given Infinity (no 1 or 2 on the end) with a speed of 55/10 even though my line would apparently support higher. So the slower version is still being installed.

My brothers has been upgraded, he now gets 66/20.

Mine got upgraded on 8/10, though didn't get an email informing me of the boost till a week later, then got the same email the middle of last week
