Thanks for the reply and the useful info, please keep me updated on how your order proceeds. I`m not too bothered about how long it would take really after waiting for years but would like to see something happening to confirm these plans will go ahead and have not been shelved for some reason. Getting any firm information about what (if anything ) is going on is proving difficult.

As nothing is happening re FTTP in my area I sent an enquiry to OR this is the reply I got

"Thanks for getting in touch with us about fibre and sorry to hear the inconvenience caused to you.

I've had a look into this for you and can see that, unfortunately at the moment there is no FTTP rollout plan for your address.

I've also checked all our planned projects to see if there's a timescale I could offer for any upgrade to fibre. I can't give you any dates right now as the FTTP project to upgrade your cabinet has yet to be implemented.

I'm sorry I'm not able to give you any further details right now, however please feel free to visit the following site and check for updates on fibre availability in your area:

https://www.homeandbusiness.openreach.co.uk/fibre-br...

Once we have any further details about fibre installation to your property we'll be in touch. "

so pretty discouraging really.

Same happened here. FTTP in scope on the checker but after enquiring they said there were no plans.

A few months later and openreach engineers surveying, planning to install fibre on the telegraph poles.

Seems as if the people handling those enquiries are not fully informed.

Thanks for that, perhaps not all hope is lost then,I agree that there seems to be conflicting information about and it is very difficult to find anyone who really knows what is going on.

Are your ASDL2 speeds no better than what FTTC VDSL will give you, or are you not able to get FTTC VDSL at all? What is your current ADSL2 speed?

We are too far from the cabinet to get any usable speeds, estimates come back as almost zero to 1 or 2 meg. Our line length is estimated at over 10 Km .

the FTTP project to upgrade your cabinet has yet to be implemented.
Whilst of little encouragement today it is a lot better than for many where Openreach have as yet no plans to upgrade to FTTP.

Plus they can also revert back to FTTC even after the FTTP hardware has been installed, they did that for the bottom part of my road.

And now they offer them FTTPoD even though the FTTP hardware is there visible lol.

AFAIK FTTP doesn`t involve upgrading the cabinet so makes me think that the info contained in that reply to my query may not be correct. I think the chances of getting FTTP generally have improved over the last year or so(i.e from zero to maybe) but when it might happen and finding any firm info about it seems almost impossible.

Whilst that is technically correct, the cabinet is often referred to so as to identify the area to be covered when providing FTTP.
