Re: Worth changing to faster fibre package?

It would seem I have a Huawei 288 /384HD FTTC cabinet?!

BT Infinity 2 - Predicted speed 54.7Mbps down/15.7Mbps up. Actual speed 42Mbps down/4.5Mbps up...crazy Left BT as they were poor...
Now with Sky Fibre - 37.5Mbps down, 9.5Mbps up

Looks like you have gained a few dB (From 7.4 up to 9.4dB) with the change of your DSL cable.
With being on a Huawei cabinet, There is a chance DLM would put you on a 3dB profile. You may end up getting close to 50-55Mbps if that were the case.

That would be great if it did. Do I need to contact Sky to get that to happen? Thanks.

If you're still on a 40/10 package then you won't get any faster than that without contacting Sky and upgrading to a faster package.

Apologies - my message did come across a bit naively! I appreciate I would need to be on a faster package to get above 40000kbps but wondered if after I changed I would need to contact Sky to get them to lower the noise margin! smile

Nope, it's an automatic process. The DLM will monitor your line and if it think it's stable enough the noise margin will drop.

Easily done RONSKI! I changed out my Mk1 filter for a Mk3 and my noise dropped a couple of dB but the attenuation went up slightly. Probably the opposite of what I was looking for? I did notice there are A and B connections on the filtered faceplate however. Would I be better connecting my line to those rather than the A, and B in the NTE5a itself? (if I were able to that is).

No, the A & B on the filter faceplate is for a data extension.

The phone line gets connected the to A & B terminals on the main back plate, the phone extension(s) gets connected to the phone faceplate and if you wanted to have a data extension to say another room that data extension would be connected to those A & B terminals on the filter faceplate.
