Unhappy engineers...

[link to this post]

I couldn't decide where to post this, as it simply concerns a PCP. I decided to post in here because the writing only appeared about a month ago, and it has got a fibre twin, so it was possibly written whilst someone was having FTTC installed. I understand if this topic needs moving/removing though. I've blanked out the obvious so as to not breach forum rules.

I did wonder who the author of that worked for. It's an understandable request, but I assume it's a very sackable offence. Not that I want anyone to be sacked, I just thought that whoever did it was lucky they didn't get caught.

Theres worse words than [censored]. Could be an Openreach engineer, but equally it could have been a contractor from numerous firms.

Totally agree with the sentiment though ... Why should the OR technicians or sub-contractors have to go near a contaminated PCP to carry out their work. Dog owners should take a more responsible attitude, and I am sure they would object to someone doing the same on their front door.

Totally agree with MHC, we have a dog, and would make sure he didn't pee on equipment like this!

Sadly there's a hardcore of owners who see things differently.

The thread subject is 'Is it for an owner of a dog to let it run towards someone...'. Apparently it's our fault for not liking slavering, barking dogs running towards us when we're out enjoying a walk.

I guess someone has worked there a few times on the trot and found it unsavoury ...

Pee, poo, puke, broken glass, used needles ... really shouldnt have to work in that environment.

Yeah, there is not always appreciation for what the engineers go through or put up with.

Yeah, I can imagine. You guys work in some of the harshest environments and the last thing you want is this on top!

Yes, to make it clear, as I said, I thought they were lucky not to get caught - but I completely understand why it was written. I'm the sort of person who would do something similar.

My dad who was a linesman in the 70s once picked up the phone in a call box which had been reported faulty, and put it right up to ihs face when he saw that there was faeces of some sort in the big old-fashioned "scoop" of a mouthpiece.

I assume there might be some sort of protocol when a site it unsuitable for working at? I mean, common sense and judgement comes first, but if there's "all of the above", especially used needles at a site, then surely there's some kind of "Ultimate cleaners" you can call, and they'll film their escapades to make a Channel 5 series about it?

Ive thrown jobs back due to various things splattered in front of and on cabs in the past. We can refuse to go near anything detrimental to our heath and safety!
