Codelook query

[link to this post]

Hi All,

What does this mean on the telecom tarrifs page: https://imgur.com/a/uh1HAXK

Specifically, I'm confused about the 30% and 100% figures for 300MB.

We have Virgin in the area, which might explain the 100%, but what is the 30%:? FTTP?

Cheers,
Andy

Looks to be some G.Fast nearer the A4010 but I don't see any FTTP unless it's an Alt-Net.

I have something similar for our cab
1) 47% area full fibre 300MB or better, 52% area up to 30MB
2) 100% area full fibre 300MB or better
Which is nonsensical. This is an Openreach AIO cab serving 75 adjacent properties across two postcodes with most if not all capable of syncing at 80Mbps. No G-fast or FTTP and no VM either despite VM's cables passing along the front of the development. At one point Hyperoptic claimed to serve the development (we did discuss this with them) but never went ahead with any installation.

Possibly they are interpreting fibre on demand as full fibre availability

In reply to a post by MrSaffron:

Not too sure, I can see it for people in an area near me with no FTTC cabinet or FTTP available to them.

In our case the distribution matches an old set of figures from Hyperoptic and also matches the property types.
Post code 1. 69 properties. 36 Houses (52%) and 33 Flats (47%) (Rounding down)
Post code 2. 6 properties. 6 Flats (100%)

Does Openreach install FOD in flats now (wayleave aside)? At one point I thought FOD to a flat was a no.

Maybe merged in some Ofcom data without doing any checking of it

There is a G.Fast pod on my cabinet, but that certainly can't cover even 30% of the properties connected to it as far as I can see. It only covers a few houses away in each direction.

I could see them interpreting VM being in the area as 100% 300MB I suppose. The 30%, if it's G.Fast, sounds vastly inflated.

MCM

If the flats are served by OH then yes, (usually small blocks) if UG via a comms room then usually no due to wayleave difficulty and cost. But if you pay enough and have landlord approval then maybe yes.

Thanks kitcat,

Small blocks/staircases largest with 9 flats 2 with 6 flats and the rest 2 each. UG delivery, no comms rooms. DPs (8) are with the electric meters in ground floor under stair cupboards. No ducting as such to the flats. Supply probably easiest externally to each flat. Wayleave not necessarily a problem, collectively we own our freehold.
