Single Thread Download Speed

[link to this post]

I've been having trouble with low single thread download speed since changing to 80/20 fibre 2 years ago with Zen. Good clean line all the time. Download speeds, single thread 29mbps, multi thread 71mbps and upload 18mbps. I would expect at least 60mbps. Zen couldn't solve this.

I am now with AAISP from the start of September and from day one the technical team there have been hammering BT Openreach to sort this out but until now with no success.

Will members here please help by letting me know what they get on single thread using the Think Broadband speed test. I am in Dumbarton Scotland. Is this a Scottish problem or is it general with some connections.? If you had single thread low speed, did you manage to get a cure?

Thank you in advance for any speed test details given.

Click on it for the actual graphs.

My Broadband Speed Test

If AAISP think it's an openreach problem then it probably is. But for the record that's what a good speed test should look like. According to the DSL checker I'm syncing around 74Mb/s.

Hopefully AAISP will get you sorted out. They are very good at doing that.

AAISP test in Scotland it is a small sample

At a guess this is the posters

I've seen that happen with my laptop sometimes. It usually goes away after a day or two so I put it down to Windows Update. It's like you get a burst of speed then Windows gradually throttles you as the download continues to make room for other stuff. Never really bothered to investigate it further.

Yes, that does like it. Is there any significance to 30Mb/s in the openreach network? Some kind of guaranteed throughput perhaps? I saw something like that once many years ago when I was first with IDNet. It turned out to be a mis-configured LNS on their network.
