What you desire will only happen if BT release the SIP details for the service to individuals

So just trying to piece this together in my peanut sized brain.

- BT only provide FTTP with a phone line.
- It is likely that once they know about my existing phone line they want to transfer it for me and ditch my copper line. Which may need exchange work to kill it, thus allowing them toan take the number to FTTP. Thus stopping the order from going ahead.
- It is possible they could give me a whole new VOIP number/line if I lie and say I don't have a phone. Thus I have FTTP and phone.
- If I ever want to use the new phone line I have to use their router as the phone only plugs into their router.
- If I then want to use my router I would have to be double NAT'd which would be an issue for VPN, which may be workable round, and I can't use the VOIP functionality on my router as they won't release the SIP details.

So basically next step is ask for an FTTP service, it they ask if I have a phone number the answer is no. See if they can send me live via that route. So just have to get past FTTP sales, through to FTTP sales support, who then had to speak to their support, the Ninja's Ninja as it were.

If I get a response will feed back.

Thanks for the pointers.

Basically yes.

You want an FTTP service without voice.
Just order a new service and don't use the VOIP number they provide.

No need to ever use the BT Hub if you don't intend on using their VOIP.

Good luck!

I've decided to go ahead with my cerberus line cease and will be signing up to a new line with BT as soon as that goes ahead.

Spoke with BT earlier and their sales support team could see that the cease was happening and that there would be no issues for me to sign up.

To cover myself in case of an extended downtime (any downtime actually), i've ordered a NETGEAR 4G LTE Broadband Modem that'll hook straight into my network via PfSense.

That wont be much fun, i get low 4G signal (30 - 50Mbit down / 2 - 5 Mbit up), but better than nothing!

So todays story is that BT will not enable a service on any port but Port-1!

Therefore a 4-port ONT is pointless.

Hmm thats strange. I rang three times on Monday morning and received differing information each time. Luckily third time was the charm and by midnight my regrade went through from 150 to 900.

Wait, Monday as in yesterday? smile I'm waiting from Monday last week, the regrade order just sitting there uncompleted.

I've got BT on port 1 and Zen on Port 2. So if I'd got Zen first, on port 1, then I'd not have been able to get a BT connection? Are they mad ? Or have I misunderstood?

Xilo / Uno
Now -> Zen and BT

Fibre is here ! FTTP smile

Same boat here, although different ISP, the regrade is unfortunately pending (officially ordered on Tuesday last week, albeit late afternoon).

Monday 6th smile

I'll keep you all updated, it sounds like new connections are prioritised over regrades. Assuming it's down to getting more money coming in!
