Re: FTTC availability in Portreath, Cornwall

[re: witchunt] [link to this post]

Ah, thanks for checking!

If only it was that simple... Unwittingly, I made a bit of a mistake..

I spoke to Plus.Net - and ordered my house move for the ADSL, so as to avoid the cancellation charges and at least have a service of some kind until the capacity became available on the exchange.

Then - following the advice from this thread - I kept an eye out, and last week the capacity became available so I rang up and asked them to change my house move so that it was fibre not ADSL.

That all seemed fine, and I thought that was the end of it - happy that while the capacity was available, I had managed to get my order in.

I then spoke to them again yesterday, and it turns out that the ADSL order had gone through, and therefore the fibre order was rejected as you can't have two in a row. I could cancel the ADSL one, but then I might not get anything at all as the fibre one had to be resubmitted and is unlikely to get fulfulled until the end of the month, leaving me with 2 weeks unable to work from home.

So, for the time being, I've got to let the ADSL order go through, then when that's finished, put in the fibre upgrade - and hope the capacity doesn't go again in the meantime!

Fingers crossed - I'm sure I'll get there in the end smile
