BT Fibre

[link to this post]

A short while ago the local area was being measured up. I did ask was this gas/electrical work. The reply was it's BT and fibre is due, at a cost of £300 he said. The last couple of weeks and lots of work clearing ducts and draw ropes appearing at pole bases. Looks like it will not be long? Its NE7 7LB by the way. Was with BT fttc, and not bad (cabinet3/benton) 50/10 on good day.
I await and see what happens.

Benton is on the Fibre First list

No idea where the £300 comes from, since installs via the retailers vary from free to £30 to £50, then a monthly fee based on the speeds you buy, most expensive being Gigabit options at £55 to £60/m. Sweet spot is probably the 160 Mbps down, 30 Mbps up products in the £35 to £45 bracket.

NOTE: While local bits may have been done, it can still be months while other areas you don't see are finished, and sometimes rather than release it street by street they may release a larger area at once.
