Most people don't, what do most people upload? Large photoshop images, large code blocks, graphics, or even just sending emails with large attachments. I originally moved from VDSL/FTTC to cable as my upload had dropped to 2 Mbps (believed cross talk) and download went from 60 Mbps to 38 Mbps. Plusnet offered no ideas, so I left.

Speaking for myself here but assuming the Lit Fibre build reaches me, I'm likely to "just" get the 100Mbps option because it's symmetric and the boost to upload speeds would make the biggest difference to what I can achieve working from home without having to use a VM running out of Azure or whatever. It's the difference between uploading a few GB of data being an event and something that just happens quickly without holding you back from getting on with the next task.

Yes, I don't need 200 download on my cable connection (I'm not a PS4/XBox gamer) and so a 100/100 service would be ideal for me.

I did say most, not all, A friend would have loved higher upload speed when she was living around here and even where she is now, sadly her broadband speed is worse than it was here, that is why she uses 4G. She used to upload a fair bit, not so much these days and now there is talk of them having FTTP
I would say that 95% of people in my area have no need for a faster upload speed, I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.
I am not saying that some people don't have rotten FTTC, and as more people get connected, the worse it gets, maybe I am lucky, makes a change, but here the speed have more or less stayed constant at 35Mb/s. 9Mb/s upload, but that is not a problem for me, I don't upload as much these days either., it does make grabbing stuff from the NAS slower from outside my network, but again I don't do that very often either.
As I have said before, I hope zzoomm does well, I think they will as long as they can get rid of their gremlins as they still seem to be having a few problems, Yesterday their network went down in some parts of the city.

I'd quite like FTTP if it pops up around here at any point, a bump in download from my current 40Mbps to, say, 100-200Mbps would be nice and I'd appreciate the extra upload speed for work - currently I'm stuck at 10Mbps. It'd be a "nice to have" rather than an "I'm desperately refreshing the page every day to see when I can get it", though.
But I am not quite sure what you're trying to achieve with all these posts everywhere. You claim that you don't want to order FTTP, but you're constantly monitoring for its availability at your address and posting on multiple different forums the moment you see that it's on sale. You don't want to order it, but you're asking your neighbour if it's any good. You don't want to order it, but you're checking the status of the local FTTP company and posting about its outages.
What are you doing with these endless posts? It feels like you're trying to ask for permission from people on forums to order it, waiting for someone to say "go ahead, you can order it, you can buy something cool for yourself". If you want FTTP, order it. If you don't want FTTP, why are you taking such a keen interest in it?

Well that’s exactly the crux of the matter ….
If you hunt around other threads you’ll see equally fervent views on other matters, vaccines, Brexit, politics, etc. He has posted for many years on here, and that’s just the way it is.

Yes, that is what I am doing, asking for permission, yeah,
Like hell, I am.
Not sure what you mean about refreshing the page, 40Mb/s is ample to be honest, the only reason people really need more is maybe if they have a few people in the same building using the same network. It was not that long ago when we all had a lot less. I realise that with more media use the slow speeds we had a few years ago with not be great now, saying I still used Netflix HD on my old ADSL connection, 720p only, but it worked, just about
The minimum speed with zzoomm is 150Mb/s and yes i am not saying it would not be nice, but I was just trying to see if it was really worth the hassle from different people's view and I have got that, I think.
I am still in contract and I have said it before that I am, for another 8 months I think=, so i have to wait for at least 7 or so.
As for checking the status, I like to know what is going on, how it is going and how people are coping with it, because I am nosy, is that ok with you?
I am not forcing you to read my posts, don't like them, then don't read them, simple as that I that goes for anyone to be honest.

40Mb/s is ample to be honest, the only reason people really need more is maybe if they have a few people in the same building using the same network. I completely disagree, 40 Mbps is not enough for myself for working at home. You may have noticed that the world changed a bit for office workers in 2020, and many people are required to work from home part of a week, or full time. Some of my colleagues have to download and upload very large images (e.g. virtual machines) and it is a very different requirement to those whom need to download a 300 GB game or patch once a week to a PS5/XBox etc. Please stop with the generalisations and buy and use what works for you.

Though in a slightly less bolshy fashion.
If you don’t like my posts, then don’t read them Adrian. It wasn’t a direct reply to you. It was actually reasonably supportive of your post.
