Two FTTP Connections/ Different Suppliers

Just moved in to a new area (Sunbury on Thames TW16) where FTTP (fed by CBTs on telegraph polls) has become available to me - and was wondering if it was possible to have two FTTP connections (and whether this is something which providers are willing to do). And if this is so, would two separate ONT modems be necessary?

Yes, two ONT’s most likely (but a single ONT of a certain kind can provide both)

Thanks Zarjaz. So just to be clear: are you saying that this would either be through two different ONTs, or through swapping out the ONT for one that has multiple ports (depending on the isp in question)?

Yes, but the second option is extremely unlikely if it’s via Openreach FTTP.

Openreach used to provide 4-port ONTs for this scenario, but they stopped doing so at least 3 years ago.

Then in 2021 it was rumoured that they would start deploying a new 4-port ONT again:

I haven't heard of anyone who's had one of these new ones installed, but since this isn't a very common scenario, it's possible they are doing this in small numbers.

I used to have BT & Zen FTTP. Bt in port 1, Zen on Port 2.

I dropped Zen about a year ago I think, when I didn't need a static IP and to reduce how much I was spending.

P.S. Have decided to order a FTTC and an FTTP connection (the former from A&A and the latter from Zen).

Was there any difference in latency between both FTTP isps for you? Not sure if you game but did you ever see if the ping was different on similar servers between 2 isps even though they are both FTTP?
