Re: Human contact about FTTP

Great advice I shall see what the voucher situation is, it sounds like a 4g solution may be advisable in the interim. We have good strong 4g signal as we are quite high up and in reasonable distance of Swindon which seems to have several masts. Unfortunately we are on the cusp of 5g, that may become possible although there is a lot of resistance to the masts in Swindon. I kind of thought that it may be better to retain a relationship with BT in the hope they eventually find ways of upgrading but from what you are saying they seem a step removed from the end user to the point it doesn’t matter that they may have a 4du dang set of telegraph poles !

That’s an interesting thought, we don’t know anyone yet as we’ve just moved into the area but they all seem very friendly and as we are up high there is a possible line of sight, I’ll have a chat with the nearest neighbours.

Have you spoken with Gigaclear to see if they would build out to you?

The rest of the village are on gigaclear, I’m not sure of exact speeds will ask, but when it works they seem happy, they are a bit grumpy about them at the moment as a car wiped out a cabinet and gigaclear were in no rush to resolve it.

Have you contacted Gigaclear? https://gigaclear.com/contact-us

CJT.

Currently on TalkTalk Fibre 150

Previously on NOW TV Broadband up to 38 Mbps, then BT Broadband up to 80Mbps, then Pluse8 Broadband up to 80 Mbps, then Hyperoptic 100Mbps.

I’ve emailed gigaclear, I hadn’t thought of them as I assumed it would have to be BT that connect so it will be interesting to see what gigaclear say. Thanks for the suggestion.

In the first instance you can just put your address into Gigaclear's online checker which will tell you if you're either a) able to order or b) on their plans

Gigaclear use their own network, not OR's. They will offer speeds up to 900Mbps (it is 1Gb, but they advertise cautiously). Uploads speeds are the same as download, and speeds don't vary with distance so you will get whatever speed you order.

They are quite good at building to areas and leaving a handful of properties out of the build, and quite bad at completing those remaining properties even if there is demand. However, it is worth speaking to them.

If it does become available, go for the residential deal even if you have a business - the only real difference is the price (they will install residential as long as you live at the address).
