How long until fttp?

[link to this post]

I'm served by the exchange at Fair Oak. I'm about 1900m away so my fttc tops out about 22mbps.

I've checked on the OR fttp rollout site but nothing is planned here, does that mean it's more than 5 years away, or could I expect to get fttp this side of 2025?

Locally there are fttp exchanges, for example, Bishops Waltham and there's a new build estate less than 2 miles away that's all fttp, seems I live in a broadband black hole...

How long is a piece of string?

It could be next year, it could be 10 years, it could be never.

There are over 6,000 Openreach exchanges but fibre services tend to skip smaller local exchanges and come direct from larger Head-End exchanges.
So FTTC/FTTP only comes from around 1,100 Head-End exchanges.
I believe all the Head-End exchanges already have FTTC/P to some extent.
Exchanges can need "upgraded" to cover "more" properties but they all have FTTP coverage to some extent already

The FTTP rollout is done all the way to the property level.
Your exchange can be announced as having a large scale FTTP rollout coming and you could be skipped as there's an issue reaching your property.
Your exchange could not be announced as receiving FTTP and it could be rolled out to you as part of some smaller scheme that doesn't cover the whole exchange area.

Even after the OR page shows FTTP is coming, plans can and do change.

Nobody knows is the honest answer.

Fair enough!

Being so close to a city and surrounded by villages already updated to FTTP it seemed odd that this little square of Hampshire is not even on the list.

I have now, thanks.

Not eligible for any voucher assistance and no providers are active here.

Looks like just have to be patient and wait it out.

hi, Lou0

the ttb map for all fibre shows this for fair oak

https://labs.thinkbroadband.com/local/index.php?tab=...

it would be worth checking city fibre's project gigabit page > https://cityfibre.com/about-us/rollout/projectgigabi...
