No, you paid for Openreach to extend their physical infrastructure to allow a service to be provided. The costs listed are simply their listed charge for them to build that piece of infrastructure, not that you are paying for the pole (the pole itself is only a proportion of that cost, the rest is the cost of labour, permits, etc for them to install it).
In terms of damage, the most likely kinds of damage to occur would occur regardless of whether other cables are in place as well (ie, something hitting the pole or a branch landing on the cables) so whether they have added more cables has a negligible bearing on that.
