Re: FTTP Installation Issue

Thanks

Was just trying to make the point that it may not be as simple as plugging the connectorised cable in to the new CBT and doing the usual stuff at the OP's property.

Its possible that the OP's Aquiss service has already been moved to the different existing PON (after the direct escalation) and the Openreach guys were simply extending that PON with an additional CBT and the MJ Quinn guy today registered the ONT serial number with that PON so once the light appears everything will work.

But having heard that it will take a week to commission it sounds more than just adding an extra CBT to a existing PON so some work may not be done until the commissioning is complete.

There are multiple headends in a handover exchange. Usually 2 per rack and there maybe a dozen headend racks in an equipment room.

Thanks Pheasant,

As you suggested I will now sit tight and let OR do their work.

The Engineer just advised to keep an eye on the ONT and if it starts flashing green, where the LED is currently red, to text him and he'll inform the relevant team to complete the required work.

Your situation sounds like it was a total nightmare, did you have NO connection during that time? blush

CJT.

Currently on TalkTalk Fibre 150 (G.Fast) - Moving to Aquiss FTTP 500!

Previously on NOW TV Broadband up to 38 Mbps, then BT Broadband up to 80Mbps, then Pluse8 Broadband up to 80 Mbps, then Hyperoptic 100Mbps.

Hi Iniltous,

TBH with you I means very little to me and for now I am happy to keep it that way. Either way my understanding was the pole that was 1st suggested as the one to connect to was because the nearest one was unusable.

However the engineer today, connected to the next nearest one, and once it's all sorted (fingers crossed) I'll have a working FTTP connection smile

In reply to a post by Taras:
when they provisioned the existing infrastructure; one pon went to headend x and the other to headend y. One conector is typically provisioned per property. Some how i think yours may have been missed and whilst putting you on the other pon, it would still result in a property to be missed. Hence a new cbt!.

Ah that makes some sense then, however if that was the case it's frustrating to say the least.

Martin did the right thing to ask you to contact the MD of OR, as it was a fuzz up and the quickest way was the route suggested.

I agree, it may not have been the way other ISP's would have done it, but I think he felt, from experience, I was likely to get further with an e-mail the his or his company would have with OR.

Plus it mean I know exactly what was going on.

Sounds like you have been fitted a Nokia ONT. Here is a quick summary of what the various LED sequences mean.

PON/LOS LED Combinations and their meaning (BT SIN 506 extract).

Hopefully won’t be too long. 🤞

My guess is that the CBT nearest the OP’s is not on the same SASA as the CBT it was built onto.
Can be fixed by having it rerouted by the (used to be called) Tiger Team.

54-46 was my number

if the ONT flashes Green to text him and he will request it’s provisioned.

LOL. Paid by the job. Text him if it sorts itself out and he will try to help you out by claiming payment for the install.

All sounds very unsatisfactory. Are Aquiss taking ownership and chasing and updating you on this or are you being left alone to try to get to the bottom of it yourself? Be it by contacting the Openreach CEO office by email or an Openreach subby via text?

Unlimited Edition. Unlimited Supply.

It's an Adtran one, he left the packaging behind, which I was not pleased by, but it's useful to know which one it is. Thanks for the image smile
