My ISP replied and said its not uncommon for speeds to start slower and build up over the weeks to the full speed. Never heard that before?
It's difficult to see exactly what Pulse8 offer for their elevated pricing. A reseller agreement with Gamma and the same off-a-script answer that isn't relevant to FTTP that lots of first-line agents try and use to get a ticket off their stats. Where's the USP?

This isn't to say that 71Mbps is a fault, there might be PPPoE overheads from a router that isn't configured to use baby jumbo frames, there might be QoS by default etc. but to get that answer back from an ISP that charges the same for 80Mbps that others charge for 1Gbps is unacceptable.

I agree that response is very copy and paste and isnt relevant to FTTP.

Personally ive always had top notch support from them. Phone lines answered within seconds of phoning, and emails answered within minutes of sending for the most part and arent usually cookie cutter responses

They dont work weekends tho, thats a negative. Maybe other resellers are similar (ive been with Pulse8 for years so can't compare), but seems alot of the bigger ISPs get the bad reviews for lack of decent support. Overall i cant really say this of Pulse8

What are Gamma like anyway, any experience? Never heard of them until i got FTTP

Gamma are a massive B2B provider, they're fine and the network will never get congested, but they offer no frills at all. They seem to have zero interest in IPv6, for example.

you can bypass the router and connect straight to the ont and do a speed test - that will tell you if your router is just too old

Not possible to do it. You still need PPPoE via Windows 10/11 first before do the speed test
