What package is my friend on?

I'm staying at his house while he is on holiday and would like to know so i don't go over the monthly limit.

Blimey that sounds awful, it doesn't seem to mention the package on the website, won't it have changed since then to something else?

That won't even let me download Counterstrike I bought from Steam, what happens if you go over the limit?

Then go into 'change your broadband package or speed' (it wont change anything) and click 'change your package' (again it wont change anything but will tell him what package he is currently on, and give options to change).

He might want to change his package anyway if it gives him the option as now it's

He'll be on a 2GB cap, thats right, sucks.

If you go over he'll get a letter in the post. (Thats whats happened to people so far, IANAL!). If he goes over again, or has gone over in the past he'll get kicked.

They call people that go over 'super users'. Maybe that term will help you search this forum about what's forgiveable in the eyes of Orange?

Well checking what speed he's connected at on the router, it's 2mb, but when he joined I'm sure it was 8mb. I even remember working out what the fastest speed he was getting and it was around 6mb, so at some point they must have downgraded him, he probably got a letter too about the lower price, but just disregarded it, but i'm just speculating here.

not slagging off Orange here, because I'm not a customer, I just know if it were my connection, I'd have it soted, but he's a casual user who doesn't use it that often.

He also has sky digital, so when he gets back off his hols I'll strongly advise him to pay

I think your friend has had the same happen to him as has happened to me recently. I was upgraded, at my request, from Orange 2 Mb to their 'up to 8 Mb' service in January and am paying

you could argue the case that you signed up for a BT WHOLESALE product, to which they changed the product spec without gaining your consent to a non-wholesale product.

The terms for the old packages aren't on their site any more but I really doubt Orange were specific enough to say they'd provide a "BTWholesale IPStream Home 2000" based product.. it would sevearly limit what they can do, without rewriting the terms, which gives users an opportunity to exit the contact by saying they don't agree with the new term.

In their current terms the closest is "We will provide you with Broadband...". That could mean a lot of things.

Well, a bit of good news. Haven't had a reply to my email yet but a couple of days ago noticed my router had re-synced at 6840 kbs so someone must have done something as I'm no longer on their 2Mb fixed service. However, as I feared the max speed I have so far managed is just over 2 Mb so still a way to go yet.


gaydarren, unfortunately when I signed up for the 8 Mb service there was never any mention of a BT product ...in fact LLU was already installed in my exchange so I guess I could have been put on either. At least I had nearly 3 months of decent speeds, just hope Orange will get their finger out and sort their equipment problems asap.
