HELP - Livebox constantly drops connection

[link to this post]

Hi,

Migrated from using Nildram for the past 2 years to Orange since with my mobile plan I could get Orange Broadband for free. All went well for a couple of months until last weekend when the connection started dropping. No other changes have been made in my house (extension wiring, computers etc etc) - it simply just stopped working.

Now the Livebox continually cyles trying to synchronise. Ocassionally it will connect but after a few seconds it drops out again.

Orange tech support got BT to do a line test which came back clear and now it sounds like Orange dont know what to do. Every call to them is at least 30 minutes where I start from scratch instead of getting this fixed.

Anyone had similiar problems? If they dont sort this soon I'm leaving. I'd rather pay for a broadband service that actually works and where the customer service is actually useful.

Thanks in advance,
Jim.

As per the other post kjur

2 of my friends in different houses with different phone lines but connected to the same exchange are having the same problem with the same support results.
Both went off at about the same time.

Anyone got any ideas how to get this fixed?

i got similar problems sometimes. just checked today the exchange congestion:

and it is! good for me they should upgrade it end of this month.
check your line. maybe they will upgrade it soon as well.
i use my old usb adsl modem in peak time - it's more stable than livebox

I have the same problem. You need to ring them and make them aware of it. So far I have been waiting 12 days for them to fix it and they don't have a clue what the problem is.

I believe it is an intermitant connection which is a problem at my local exchange from when I migrated from Tiscali. Everytime I migrate my ISP, BT always seem to f it up!

Thanks guys.

3 weeks later.....So Orange had told me they had asked BT to do a line test on 3 seperate occasions. Last week when I called Orange yet again, the guy called BT directly and BT said they had never recieved a request to do a line test on my number!!!!

So they did a line test there and then as a priority and whadda y'know, the line is faulty. Hmmmm, haven't I been telling Orange that for 3 weeks (Noise figure dropped from 17dB to 7dB every time the fault ocurred. But I guess that was too technical an analysis for Orange Technical Support to understand).

Anyway, BT are supposed to be fixing the fault but as of today, Orange don't know if they have or not. I suspect they may have fixed it as I've had service for most of today.

I can't express my anger towards Orange enough. The support is pathetic. I wont be a customer for 1 second longer than I have to be once my contract is up.

Will let you know when this debacle finallly ends.

JB.

I have been told by Orange to wait up to 8 weeks to diagnose and fix the fault. Although they have 'kindly' offered me the option of paying

I've been having what I think is the same problem at my girlfriend's house.

Livebox was dropping sync and re-training every few seconds. I've tried a different router on the line but that does the same, and for the few seconds that it's got sync shows a large number of errors.

How do I convince CS to escalate it to BT straight away rather than have me jump through hoops?

Thanks All,
Adam
