Thinking of Migrating from AOL

[link to this post]

Hiya I Migrated to AOL in 2004 from Freeserve/Wanadoo after 2 years with them due to the Limits on Downloads with Wanadoo, Been getting a few problems with AOL and they can't seem to help me good enough and I have recieved my MAC CODE, im just wondering if "ORANGE" is good and is it Capped on the Unlimited and is it 100% Unlimited.

Im gonna see if AOL can sort me out, as we have found the Fault, well I had and told AOL about the fault on my Exchange. We'll see but its not Deffinate, but if you have any Good or Bad Views on ORANGE BROADBAND, plz let me know.

Thanx...

Orange is not good!

Unlimited is limited !

Orange help is a misnomer!

If you want more problems move to Orange.

Have a look at the Orangeproblems site!

I can honestly say that I am perfectly happy with the service I have received from Orange. There speeds have been good and CS have been good (even to the point that they called me to confirm delivery of the Livebox), There Unlimited service has a fair use policy that appears to be 50gig download per month.

Yes, orange could improve but they are by no means the worst! Of course like any ISP they have a number of unhappy users! Some of which continue to run them down my weeks/months after they have left the service. ultimately you will have to decide if you want to migrate to orange. Personally, I think there service has been good, if you compare the number of posts in this forum to the number of users they support it may give you a good idea of the service you will get.

Best of luck

Yes i know wot you mean purct, I use to be with FREESERVE and it was a gr8 Connection and I also enjoyed being with them until WANADOO came in (Which Freeserve were a Wanadoo Company anyway, but then Wanadoo came and took the service over completly and when the Limits came in, it put me off completly but i must admit that the Wanadoo connection were always online and stable, same as my AOL.

I have been a very very happy customer with AOL and i will also admit i think AOL has been one of the Best ISP's I have ever been with. Up until 3 years late "Now" im getting problems of slow speeds, i didnt even recieve my Phone call they said they would call me between 4 and 6 but never got one its 10.31pm now and never had a call yet.

Hopefully AOL will fix my problem, something wrong with the Exchange or something. If they fix it ill stay with AOL, and yes i will move over to ORANGE if all things go bad... Orange (50gig) sounds good to me cuz i never use 50gig a month with AOL anyway... 50gig is a Hell of alot of Use...

Thanx purct

I know DUCATI, Orange is probably not good...

But when you look at it you get "Good & Bad" views on all Isp's

AOL was one of the No.1 Worst Known ISP's to go with, but why does everyone want to start signin up to em now??? lol - im gonna stay with AOL though I think, tonight my connection is Stable...

Thanx for your advice much appreciated...

Hi Mapoo could you please tell me what letters your mac key from aol starts with. I have a friend who is trying to migrate from aol to orange but orange say his mac key is invalid as it starts with LYNS and they only accept BBIS mac keys. I have never heard of mac keys startung with LYNS but I have seen the email he got from aol and it definately starts with these letters. It is a BT exchange there is no LLU so I am wondering if AOL are giving him the run around

Problems with the new MAC codes are discussed here ...
http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=general&Number=2780107

The LYNSxxx code is almost certainly valid, but the problem is getting ISPs to realise this (as your friend has found).

It's usually Orange that give out invalid MAC keys they probably know an invalid code when they see one so they are as bad as each other

Hiya Firefox,

My Key from AOL acctually start with BBIP (can't give you the rest of the key as its Personal)...

I havn't used my MAC KEY as I have chosen to stay with my ISP "AOL" and Upgrade to there Unlimited 8Megs (No Caps) Service...

But can I ask how did he/her get the MAC CODE, did they tell it him/her over the phone or did they send it in a E-mail???

If they said it VERBALLY then this is Wrong and cannot be done this way, it always come inside a E-mail... to his/her MASTER Screen name...
