Orange Upgrade and a Ceased Line

[link to this post]

Hi Guys,

Trying to help a friend out and was wondering if I could get some advice. He's been on Orange Broadband for quite some time. He's recently recieved an email offering to upgrade to up to 8meg, which he has accepted. The email said it would take around half an hour, but its been several days and his internet is still down. He's checked his phone number at SamKnows and is being told there is a cease on his line.

Incidentally I've just noticted LLU was enabled at his exchange at the end of November, however Orange LLU is showing "unavailable".

I'm just wondering would they have maybe placed a cease on his line to move him over to LLU.

He's tried calling Orange on numerous occasions and tells me they seem to have little knowledge of the problem and seem unwilling to help, which I can believe from dealing with Orange myself in the past.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Many thanks,

Snap, Orange transfered me to their LLU service on Tuesday. My speeds have decreased by 80%. Today I am barely on dial up speed.

After unsuccessful call to Tech Support, I finally called their billing dept and asked for a MAC code. Was instantly offered the services of a high level Tech Guy who admitted that that the transfer has obviously gone wrong and raised it to second level investigation.

Like your friend, I also note that SAMKNOWS reports a cease on the line. Orange do not show LLU as available on my exchange (Hamilton, Scotland) therefore I am confused also.

I'm also on the Hamilton exchange and have the exact same problems as you, mine initially changed on Sunday night to 1meg, which supposedly went up to 2meg on Tuesday, but it's been nowhere near the service I had before.

If i do a check on my ip it shows as *****.Tannochside-STR4003-BAS0001.orangehomedsl.co.uk, I have my MAC code, and will hopefully move, but as they have dumped me on LLU it might not be possible. I also have a cease showing on my line for today.

Post 7pm and things are back to near normal though my speed tests are only averaging around 600kbs. At least it's better than most of today when I was down to 0kbs for several hours over midday.

I'll mull things over the next few days but the past 2 days dealing with their customer service has really put me off them. Plus the fact that I paid

Same here, speed is back up, usable now at least, still worse off than we where before though. Thought things where back to normal late last night when my download speed shot up to it's pre upgrade level, but things have gone backwords today.

The main problem appears to be congestion. If I am surfing after midnight I get my full 1mbs.

Early evening we are competing with everyone else surfing and VOIPing. The free broadband offer in conjunction with the mobile contract has obviously been popular, probably too popular and they are heading the way of Carphone Warehouse
