Well phoned up Orange today to get my MAC code and cancel

I have been with Freeserve / Wandadoo / Orange for about 10 years now...& the low speeds and disconnections have been so bad the last few months

Enough is enough.

They did try to tempt me to stay though with a 9.99 offer for 8MB broadband with Wireless and talk. I currently pay 17.99. That is a good price but I would rather pay the 17.99 & a little bit more to get a decent reliable connection

Last evenings speed tests were the lowest yet at 0.1mbps download, using TBB speedtest. Speedtester would not even decode the page such was the low speed of my connection that in the end I had to refrain from using the internet.

first time using the forums here - vaguely reassured to see everyone having the same problems as me - thought i was going mad...

I've been with Wanadoo/Orange for 3 years, all been okay if not amazing, and i've been on "up to 8meg" for almost a year, usually with a satisfactory 3mbps. Last couple of weeks:
- Every morning - lightning - 6.5Mbps - just as i go to work
- Every evening - 100kbps - 500kbps - and with seriously bad ping issues so that completely prohibit online gaming

I got really mad hearing about this "national network problem" stuff i heard from the technical support people as they gave no hint of a solution or any reason.

Sorry about the rant - been getting really mad about it recently and am just glad that it wasn't just me....

I'm out of contract, so i guess i'd better up sticks and leave, but i'm not sure anyone else will be better....

I thought that was too good to be true:

Date 17/05/07 16:03:45
Speed Down 6699.33 Kbps ( 6.5 Mbps )
Speed Up 240.36 Kbps ( 0.2 Mbps )
http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results/id/117941433449668329248.html

until around 1845. As I was checking various pages, I could see speed gradually going down

Date 17/05/07 19:15:26
Speed Down 652.38 Kbps ( 0.6 Mbps )
Speed Up 237.40 Kbps ( 0.2 Mbps )
