Orange home max, any dissadvantages?

[link to this post]

Hi I'm not very well up with orange packages but by elderly relative has broadband with them for 14.99 2gb cap. Works just fine for her limited needs.

Now they are telephoning here trying to get her to transfer to broaddband max at 24 a month saying her bt line rental is included so it will work out cheaper than what she is paying now and she will get unlimited usage even if she doesn't need it. A new 18 month contract I think but to be honest there is a good chance she wouldn't switch in that time anyway.

I'm rather wary but if it is cheaper it seems hard to argue with. Does anyone have any tips or things she should know? I wonder what happens if she ever wants to transfer her line back to bt?

Thanks a bunch for any thoughts.

I don't know about tips..... You can find out all about the packages here http://tinyurl.com/2fysbz.
Reading between the lines so to speak. If she wanted to transfer the line back to BT she would possibly be moved to the Select package which could prove more expensive for her.
Have a look at the starter pack for her too as she doesn't use it that much.

Also sign her up for telephone preferential services ( here http://tinyurl.com/3ltk5) to save her getting calls like that.

I'm also thinking of moving my home phone to Orange. As my (unlimited) broadband has been OK with Orange I assume that this service will not change.

In theory the phone service shouldn't change either but I'm a little worried about it being run from a company in Madeira though...

If she is on the 2 Meg BB Starter package at 14.99 per month, then when her contract period has expired, or if it already has, she can phone (not Web) Orange's Retention Dept. and get them to keep her on the same package for only 11.99 per month, also on an 18 month contract, but with the 1st 3 months free. This will save her at least 3 per month.

Also, then there will be no worry about transferring away from or back to BT.
