Can't access any websites ?!

[link to this post]

Hi

Recently (after so many years of trouble-free surfing), I can't seem to access any site at all. Only now and again, like now, can I do that.

I got in touch with Orange and they gave me a couple of different DNS server addresses. Unfortunately they didn't work.

I did all the necessary checks; tel. line is fine, no light flashing on mini Livebox (they're all green), changed filters, used the test socket etc...

The same problem is on another laptop too (one's running XP, the other Vista); also have a spare Livebox, and the problem's still there.

So is the issue at Orange's end ? - and if so, (in theory), how long should it take to 'fix' ?

Thanks in advance.

Presume DNSs given you were Orange's own?

Try an independent one like OpenDNS : 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220

1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg BB

Did that, but unfortunately same thing; they worked for a bit then nothing.

BTW, spoke to Orange today, and they said they're going to have to re-load all my details into the server and at the exchange again.

Hopefully, once done, that should be the end of the matter; and they said it could take between 3-5 working day.

Oh, and for some reason, it's working as I type this (although the amber light was flashing, then tuned green, then red again - looks like a connection issue; hence the re-loading of all the info).

Can't think what they need to load at exchange.

As for their server all they need is your login name, pwd and maybe 'phone #; a matter of 1 minute, not days.

I'm gonna give them about a week or so to fix this once and for all (it's been an on-going issue for about 3 weeks now).

If they still haven't resolved it by then, I'm off to either 02 or Be.
