His exchange is NSUDN (Udny)
Ugh! That could explain everything. That's outside EE's Network Area. They throttle heavily at those and you pay for the privilege frown.

When's his contract end? Best if he migrates to another ISP.

Ok,

All wiring changed and replaced with CAT5e cable. Half the stuff was chewed through.

The stats I now have are as follows:

Down speed: 4539kbps, Noise Margin: 7.7dB, Line Attn: 42.5dB

Up Speed: 1024kbps, Noise Margin: 5.4dB, Line Attn: 22.7dB

I'll attach a screenshot shortly.

No but it is usable. So would this be down to orange capping the line or would we see this in the noise margin if that was the case? Orange said to him he is already getting the max.

They could still be banding him in the 6th band here: Banded Profiles while they weren't in the previous set of stats. However I'd expect to see the NM much higher.

Orange CS are notorious liars!

Hmm I really don't know what to advise him now to be fair.
I've asked him to screen shot me some stats after a week or so to make sure its not dropping or whatever.

My concern after looking again is the amount of interleaved path FEC correction. The Brightbox had only been on approx 5 minutes.

Slow & a whole lotta FECs.

No harm in trying a reboot to see if it'll go faster.

So what causes the FEC's? Still a problem on the line?
Like I said on the EE forum, I think I'll set up some more routers to try as I don't have much confidence in the brightbox.

Try to get it on Fast Path rather than Interleaved and you won't have any FEC errors cuz they not checked on Fast Path.

Your FECs might not matter as LoS = 0 & ES are low.
