No answer on EE community site, so thought I'd try here. 
Is there a reason DMZ wouldn't work on the brightbox router?
Been running DMZ on my previous router without problems but Brightbox seems to just drop connections. 
Working fine on my Technicolor TG582N connected to EE service.

Yes, thanks. Went through that when the router arrived.
Ended up using the one supplied by my previous ISP, which has been working a treat. Recently got a warning light come up (see other thread), but still working fine.

I did not know the dangers of using DMZ on a computer.
Is it safe?
It is highly advised not to use a DMZ on a computer as the user is very vulnerable to an attack of any kind. Even with a firewall, it is not recommended.

Yes, always a good idea to check things out before you implement them.
MS come with ports open by default. Thankfully Linux is the other way round.
I don't know anything about games consoles, so can't comment on them really.

MS come with ports open by default.
All ports in Windows are firewalled by default since XP SP2, roughly 11 years ago.

Not clear whether that is people running a search for an open port on the PC itself, or from another machine on their LAN.
If on the PC itself then not really sure what the problem is because the standard firewall will stop any software outside that PC from being able to connect.

A listening port is not necessarily open, that's the job of the firewall. All of those ports would be firewalled in a DMZ.

Probably not advisable to run DMZ which ever way, unless you have good reason to.
Still doesn't answer my original question anyway.
