Anyone here paid up to be a premium member??
£40 which seems steep but you do get all the expansion packs
Included in these five expansions are 20 maps, 20 new weapons, 10+ new vehicles, 4 new game modes, 30+ Assignments and 20+ new dog tags.
And some more BS stuff you don't need
* 2 weeks early access to all future Battlefield 3 expansion packs starting with Battlefield 3: Close Quarters.
* Unique in-game knife
* Unique in-game dog tags
* 10+ unique soldier camos
* Unique weapon camos
* Stats reset feature
* 10+ unique Platoon emblem decals
* Increased Platoon emblem layers
* Server queue priority
* Save up to five of your favorite Battlefield Reports
* 5+ unique Assignments
* Exclusive events
* Exclusive Double XP weekends
* Exclusive videos
* Strategy guides
* Additional bonus content
I don't want Close Quarters that looks too much like MW with endless spawn die spawn die size maps but the other packs especially Armoured Kill look good
Oh and if you're a PS3 type you get access two weeks before everyone else

£40?! That seems a bit steep, how much are the map packs anyway about £6ish? I already have Back to Karkand so does that mean there are 4 more map packs to come out? If so I would rather just pay £6 each than have all the other bits with it.
"Unique platoon emblems"
"Unique soldier camos"
"Unique knife
"Unique dog tag"
Wow, how terrible! Maybe it will appeal to the 14 year olds but I personally think it's a waste of money. Is Close Quarters out on Xbox yet then do you know?
No idea how much they are separately. Like you I already have Back to Karkand, I don't want close quarters and I definitely don't want any of the BS dog tags etc
I'm happy to wait until sept when Armoured Kill comes out and the price has dropped.
£40 is nothing to a kid, little Johnny will tell his mum he needs it because all his mates have it she being such a great mum will open her purse and buy him the lot provided he does some work about the house which won't happen

Karkand was 1200 ms points so £10 per epansion pack!!
Hahaha, very true!
Didn't realise Karkand was 1,200 points but it was a while ago I bought it and the memory isn't great! Not sure what I will do then to be honest, I think I will just review the map packs as and when they come out and see if I feel they are worth my money. I may just abandon BF3 though and wait until something new comes out at the end of the year. Summer is here now and I currently have Max Payne 3 and Prototype 2 to get through and then Fifa will be out in September which will take me up to end of the year.
Bought, but I didn't have B2K so it's better value for me.
[censored] the three mates I play BF with have bought the premium pack, oh well looks like I'll have to get it. One of them said the CQ maps are a lot bigger than he expected.
Well I bought it and have so far played Ziba tower and something fortress once each
Spawn die Spawn die Spawn die Spawn die Spawn die Spawn die .......................................
Not just me every ones kills and deaths scores show the same story, basically you run around a corner and either kill the bloke in front or he kills you, whoever survives usually dies while you're watching the vid of him. Your life expectancy is very short.
Just like playing MW :/
Only MW3 does not feel like you are playing in Quick Sand and is far faster
Im done with MW and Battlefield anyway as they are both boring me to death
Well CQ was always going to be like that, EA want to make Battlefield into COD, everyone just wants to rip of gamers as much as possible these days.
Its a shame you cant just pay for the expansion packs earlier and remove all the other premium [censored], though one thing to remember is most BF players got B2K free at launch.
So 30 pounds for all 3 expansion packs would be better or even 40 wouldnt be bad if they added in say another 4+ maps from BF2.
Yeah, unless I really get into it big time (which I cannot see myself doing) I'm not paying £40 for some expansion packs. EA can take a running jump on that one. Looks like very poor value for money considering the amount of content.
Im not paying 0.4 p for anything regarding Battlefield as I've said I'm getting extremely bored with Cod and Battlefield and most things FPS that EA and Activision are throwing my way time and time again.
Been looking at the Black Ops 2 videos and watching the developers telling us how Black Ops 2 is going to redefine FPS and i just don't see it.
It looks ok in parts but redefine is a very big word and this from what i have seen is no difference to MW3 which most people call MW 2.5 .
We need a new direction and someone needs to put some new life in FPS........Period
I would just like to see more support for the modding community. BF1942 had some great mods for it and gave birth to Desert Combat. More inspiration for new ideas can come from supporting the gaming community. More lateral thinking is sometimes needed.
Grr I had to buy it as the mates I play with have it and one of them runs the server we use
It happened that I had £11 in my wallet, found a £20 psn card in the cupboard and used the remaining £3 credit on my trade in card to buy a £10 psn card, so it seems like I only paid £7 for the premium pack. Roll on the armoured maps
Comical price really.
I generally disagree with buying DLC on principle. On the PC it appears to be possible to buy it from different countries by a bit of trickery with your origin profile and the use of proxy servers. Mate got it for 1500 indian rupees which is £17 and it seemed to go through fine. Heard stories of people getting their purchases reversed and refunded though so we'll see what happens on his.
If it sticks I'd possibly buy it this route. Waiting to see if CQ is decent on PC or just a poor joke. If I hear good things i'll essentially give EA the option of having £17 off me or £0. Up to them if they want to let it authorise.
I wonder if that works for PS3's?? I have an american account
What im waiting to see as well, for 17 pounds its a bargin.
We need a new direction and someone needs to put some new life in FPS........Period Aliens, Aliens, Aliens!
Your dog meat man ?
Prey please not
I've got it. As Gzero said it is much better value for those people who didn't have B2K. For those who had it like me it all seems a bit steep but by the time all of the expansions are out it will be like the equivalent of Special Forces for BF2 I guess.
I haven't actually played BF3 for a couple of months so I got it to see whether CQ could re-kindle my interest.
As much as the maps seem spawn/die size the player count has reduced accordingly.
That's a good excuse if ever I heard one!
Rummaged through the back of the sofa, washed a couple of cars, traded in some old holiday money and flogged a few slaves. Still didn't have enough so cut my arm off and sold a kidney or 2.
Well, since you only paid so little after all that then I don't blame you mate. Good deal I says! And now you won't have your mates on your back trying to get you to get it.
I hope they do a better job of the Armoured maps than they did with Armoured Assault or whatever it was called in BF2. Nice idea but poor execution. Let the heavy artillery roll...!
Yea I'm looking forward to the armoured maps
Last night we were playing the normal maps but on hardcore, I really enjoyed it, gives you much more to think about
What happens with hardcore mode in mp then? One shot one kill or something?
You don't get a hud to show your ammo or health, same with tanks etc
You can't light up the enemy when you spot them, you can team kill
Probably more stuff that I haven't noticed yet
It's much better than I thought it was going to be
Hardcore vs normal differences
No Hud
No 3rd person view in vehicles
60 health rather then 100.
Need a medic to heal to regain health
Teamkill or friendly fire is on.
No kill cam
No name tag
No 3d spotting
Basically its slower game play as you are going to die out in the open, their is a massive argument that continues over which mode is better, hardcore is a development from BC2, never in the game for BF2.

Hardcore sounds good to me. Thought it might've just been some macho nonsense for players who like to be boring but it actually sounds pretty good.

Yawn.........................
God if i came on here raving about every bit of download content for MW3 or any other COD game i would get ripped to shreds
For the last 8 months Swanny this is all you go on about,broaden your horizons and see there are plenty of games out there way better than Battlefield.
Just amazes me that you come alive when there is anything Battlefield but don't talk about anything But.
Another Yawn.....................zee ,Zee. ZEE..............
I love you really Spooky
Im going to post non stop about Lollipop chainsaw come Thursday and Gravity Rush on the Vita, developer that puts the fun back into gaming and don't take it to the realistic realms of today.
Anyway Swanny if you Love Battlefield so much then alls fine and dandy and if it keeps you hooked after 8 months then the developers have obviously got you totally fixated with there product so good on you.

No. With Lollipop you are going to post wondering why you fell for all the hype when you should've known better etc. Trade in within the day and everything like you always do!
Dunno about Gravity Rush tho. Can't be bothered to google it just now but you might actually play that for a couple of days solid and then a little a week or so later and then never mention it. If it's got a trance soundtrack you will sing its praises from the rooftops. If it's got loads of talking in it or stuff to read you will likely say how boring it is and not for me etc then trade it in and sigh and complain about gaming droughts etc.
Man, I should be your psychiatrist! I know you so well I could actually be your financial adviser and tell you not to spend your money on games you won't even like! Haha. Maybe I could even plant the seed in your head that Battlefield 3 is good for you...Repeat after me... Battlefield! Battlefield...
I've been shooting folk, and yes I am going to refuse to join a server ilh is on.
The Viper is still the most OP thing in the game.
Lollipop is getting solid reviews and its just some mindless fun,Gravity Rush has been out in Japan about 6 months and apparently is the best thing on the Vita
But there is a distinct possibility that they both get traded
Sorry T2D but the numbers of views and replies show that this is still a popular game on this forum
Shame you don't like it
At least BF is good value for money even with the expansion pack, I'll be playing this game well into next year. Shame you can't find a game that really grips you and lasts longer than 5 mins.
Hope you're not feeling a little jealous
Played for a few hours last night - first time in 2 months and it was good to see I still have got it I was fearing I might be stumbling around for a night or 2 but after 2-3 rounds I was back up near the top. The maps are bigger than I thought they would be given the 16 player size but after a few games on each I am getting to grips with their layout. I don't know all of the doors/passages but I can just about make my way to the different cap points now
Fair point
No problems matey its good that you actually still think the game is pretty impressive and to be fair if you like it so much why not rave on about it.
I can not say i have a game that deserves the praise you reap on Battlefield but I'm just playing with you and winding you up a little as i wish i felt the same as you regarding a game.
Im hoping later this year Far Cry 3 is that online game that i really enjoy because 3rd person max payne 3 online is not really my cup of tea.
Great single player experience but online........Don't really get that much out of it even though its half decent.
No worries
Yea 3rd player is fine for single player games but rubbish for MP
Like I said it's a shame you don't like BF
Im tempted to retry it matey i wont tell you how much,my problem is that i will be playing against higher ranked players like you with little in the way of a decent weapon to start with.
Unless this is different then let me know the plus and minus facts if i do decide to go get it once again and put more time and effort than i did originally .

I'm not a big fan of the new maps, as they are a bit lack lustre and small. 925 is probably the one I tolerate most, and s [censored] metal least.
Even on 16 slot you get shot in the back as most bf3 players are blind so you can't rely on them watching your back even if they are looking directly at the enemy towards your rear.
*resorts to using rpg* (still doesn't kill on direct hit).
Haven't played BF3 for a long time myself so don't be such a little girl. We all gotta start off somewhere even if all the other boys and girls have bigger guns than us.
Anyway, can't you just buy all the upgrades now or something? Isn't that what everyone was talking about a few months back?
Wouldn't like to play an FPS with a controller but hey, if it works, then great. Guess you do get used to it.
I really need to get my desktop PC set up. Gonna check out some videos of the new maps then. But I don't think I'll be getting expansions just yet. They're not exactly refundable are they?

Do they have collectables such as Golden Dummies for me in Battlefield Spooky Baby
Anyway i been playing some psn download classics from Housemarque Dead Nation and Super Stardust HD ,classics games and anybody with a Playstation 3 needs to download these great games...............Yes Mrnelster I'm talking to you my friend.
Anyway a little bit of Lollypop and Gravity Rush tomorrow so there
Do they have collectables such as Golden Dummies for me in Battlefield Spooky Baby
Ha. Like it. Add rattles and prams and we're talking business. I frequently throw mine out the pram when gaming online. The spittle on my monitor is proof enough of that.
I still can't be doing with googling those games. Never played them. I haven't played any games for a couple of weeks now (due to visitors staying). I need a kick start. Somebody needs to provide me with a jolt of good old gaming fun... Dunno what's wrong with me.

Old age by any chance creeping in
Im of Gaming myself just recently but its Summer and that is usually the trend aint it ............Oh yeah Summer !!!
I remember them well from the golden 70s era ,things dont seem to be the same anymore and the british weather is something of a mystery the last decade or so.
Who would actually believe its June .........The old saying ......Flaming June........NOT
You are too late now, the sale is over so it's no longer £18.
This June is very weird yes. Been wearing a coat at times and not just because of the rain, it's been a bit cold too.
And as for old age creeping in. Tell me about it!I have got a bad flesh eating infection that's turned the lower part of my leg into a rotten zombie's lunch box and the antibiotics ain't working. I'm not even 40 yet and I'm already over the hill and over the cliff edge.
If I were 20 years younger I might've been okay by now. That's old age creeping up on ya I suppose. Plus my eyesight is a lot worse than I thought. Man, I am falling apart!
Hopefully we'll see some sun soon and the jet stream will go back to were it's supposed to be and stay there. My leg will heal and I'll get round to buying some more specs that work better than the ones I've got. England will win a tournament, my hair will grow back and the government will stop trying to dismantle the country.
This is what games are good for: escapism! Got to find something to play soon.
You still got a wicked sense of humour matey and you like playing games.........Thats all that counts.
The jet stream will never go back to where it should be thanks to BP and the gulf of Mexico
T2D do like Spooky says and just buy the weapons pack.
I play as engineer most of the time and use mainly the SCAR or the G53
As support I use the PDW
Lots of good guns straight out of the bag. The M27 is pretty deadly
I'm not fussy I get owned by people of all ranks :/
Remember the higher ranks just means they've been playing longer not that they are better. One of my mates is prestige 30 something but he's terrible
Im tempted Swanny and may go out and get it from Blockbusters on Monday as i saw they had it for sale for £17.99 which is just a trade in for me .
9 out of 10 users of this forum can't be wrong
But if i do take the plunge and i get into the game you know that i will buy the new pack that has just been released which by all accounts is twice as much as the game and a little more on top.
Need something to get me a little more interested in online FPS .
Haha yeah. They said that about Cat food too. Actually, I bought some cat food the other week and it looks a lot better than the food I eat.
Been feeding this cat that was meant to be homeless (according to a crazy neighbour) but I suspect, due to its size, health and athletic ability, that it's just a greedy fugger.
Makes me hungry just thinking about it.
£17.99. Cheap as chips!
Just as Swanny says, 9 out of 10 forum users cannot be wrong. Go get it and don't worry about being pwnd for a while. It takes a long time to familiarise yourself with the maps and how people use cover (camp) but it'll be worth it as it'll take your mind off the [censored] weather.
My leg is getting better btw. So maybe England will win tomorrow and we'll even see a bit of sun. It's only Sweden after all.
T2D is gonna become a Battlefield Veteran. And soon he will be playing alongside Lt Swan and Captain Nelster. If he gets a PC he can even play with ol' Spooky! If he's brave enough!!
I have a Imac Spooky is it on that,besides i will get the 360 version all the way
Eat the cat
Im in when will it be out on the 360
Kind of confusing as its says if you buy it buy it from the EA store and not download it from the xbox live site even though its on there for 4000 points and are saying you will be charged twice
How confusing is that..................Why have they got it for a download then ?

Good stuff
On the PS3 you have to buy it actually in the game not on the PS store
You can buy Premium in either section, but once you have bought that, as the expansion packs come out you MUST download via the in game store. I guess the in game store knows you are premium so wont charge you.

I knew it was something like that

Had a little play this evening and i have to say i did enjoy it even though i more than likely looked a little dazzled and confused and my team mates more than thought Forrest Gump had turned up in there Squad.
I see a lot of potential in this game and its obviously a far more tacticle experience than the previous Cod Games.i just need to be prepared to put in quite a few hours and understand some of the modes i am playing.
It took the best part of 90 minutes to download all the updates which in some cases were 2 gig in size and then before all that started the HD upgrade.
After playing a map for about 30 minutes i could see myself liking this game a lot more than when i first bought it,suppose been a avid Cod player the pace of this game and tactics did not suit my style.
But after the somewhat disappointing MW3 which i became bored with very quickly i have decided to see why Swanny and quite a few others on here are raving about.
Going to take me a while to get used to the shooting as this is very difficult compared to other fps i have played,plenty of recoil amongst other things,like the way the land vehicles handle though and i can see me getting into this until something exceptional comes along like Black Ops 2 .........
Good stuff

With the longer games where a round may last an hour, you do need to take a break from all the frantic activity.
Waiting to see how much next DLC is, to judge whether premium is worth the 4000 points

Even though I haven't played all the new maps yet I'm glad I bought the premium. Few perks that seem to make it worth while, like getting the stuff two weeks early and queue jumping while waiting to join a busy server.

Random suggestion, and hope you folks don't mind someone new popping in - @time2die, if you want some faster paced bf3 action have you tried playing TDM on noshahr canals? It's a popular one on PC.
No mate I'm just getting used to Battlefield 3 in general,I'm quite liking it at present and playing capture the flag even though its not called that ?,besides i have the 360 version but i could play team death on that on the map you suggest for sure.
Very tempted to download the new pack that has come out or the subscription whatever you want to call it,i have to say i am impressed now that i have got a little bored with Cod and i am sure i can really get into this game.
Only on Rank 2 so I'm a nobody at the moment

Im tempted myself been the hardened Battlefield supporter and player i am
God Swanny.........That statement must have made you squirm
£40 is a little steep though and its really the elite service on MW3 implemented by EA to grab some more revenue.
Anyway i decided to go for it but nothing downloaded so I'm a little confused here as to what i have actually got for £40 which is basically 3 times more than i payed for the game.
Suppose to be all the map packs and stuff and all that happened was it told me i had unlocked something which i forgot 2 seconds later.........Was it back to kirkland or something...........Where are all my expansion packs ?
Anyway i really do love this game and i can not for the life of me understand why i did not in the first place,was it those drop dead gorgeous PC footage that failed to materialise and the fact the single player portion of the game was not that good and thats what i concentrated on .
Anyway Swanny i take back what i said as its a far better ,bigger,greater experience than COD and suppose with all your chitty chat regarding the game it made me take another look and I'm glad i did.
One thing is unclear to me is .........Am i suppose to collect dog tags when i kill someone,like go over to the body or something,because its seems that other that kill me walk past my body in kill cams

You only get their dog tags when you take them down from behind with the knife
Glad you're enjoying it
Conquest is capture the flag.
You might like Rush as well, you either defend or attack two objectives then either move forward or backwards on the map depending which side you're playing.
I prefer conquest and play that mostly
Plenty to be going on with without buying the premium
I played three of the CQ maps again tonight but didn't enjoy it and went back to the bigger maps

The latest 2.83GB patch probably has the extra maps/textures and other bits of Premium already in it.
By paying you simply unlock those features.

Well it seems once you pay you go to the EA store and see the premium content and you have to download it,like Back to Kirkland ?
This is where it gets a little confusing as the first time i clicked on the premium pack Back to kirkland it wanted to charge me £11.99 or something ,but just below is the same thing only not charged if you have bought into the premium service.............Oh well
These things are never simple. Got some more live points on the way, as would have bought the other packs in the future. 4000 points is 30gbp so ok I guess

Correct mate. That seems to be the EA way. All of the patches so far for the xbox have been huge as they have all included map packs. So you pay for premium gety a tiny download which unlocks B2K if you didnt buy LE edition and also Close Quarters.
If I can just say as Im sure most are already aware this is NOT COD. I came across to battlefield a few years back since they screwed the PC players over with lack of dedi servers MW2. I love BF but you have to squad up and communicate with your squad or the game will get old very quickly. Ther's no better feeling [ingame :) ] than being in a good squad and talking to each other. It is a little unfortunate that EA has sort of jumped on the COD bandwagon and I suppose who can blame them given the revenue the Activision get from DLC.
Remember if you dont buy the map packs you will probably end up getting booted from servers as the map rotation moves to maps you done have.
Anyway, if anyone's looking to squad up and have a laugh feel free to PM me and Ill give you my xbox GT. I play with loads of guys from another popular UK forum and they are all a great bunch..

I love BF but you have to squad up and communicate with your squad or the game will get old very quickly I think you have summed it up very well.
I'm trying to get back into BF3 and have been playing for a couple of hours today on the campaign mode to get used to the controls again. The campaign is pretty dire to be honest, rather confused and disjointed. That said, the tank section (the one paraded prior to the games launch) is brilliant and could be developeed into a full length game on its own.
As for control, the horizontal axis is (annoyingly) not at all sharp, much akin to the Killzone series (cue comments about it being more realistic that way) but I'm getting there again slowly.
I have premium thanks to my clan owner. but its totally worth every penny. You also get things such as extra content drops between the expansions which make it worth while, and you get at least 1 double XP per month, more than normal users.
Normally the map packs cost £11.99 so 4 maps cost more than all the content you get extra with premium, the premium knife is also better than standard one.
The close quarters maps are pretty good to for a change of pace, plus you get the GUN MASTER game mode which is like the call of duty style GUN GAME where you progress through the weapons starting from pistol ending with a knife kill, you must get 2 kills per weapon to progress and a single knife kill to finish.
Scrapmetal is the only map im not keen on as there are to may COD style camping points which easily allow for people to spawn camp many of the spawn points at once.
Anyone owns this on the PC add me on origin -cXn-Jonas and we can play and mess some enemies up.

As for control, the horizontal axis is (annoyingly) not at all sharp, much akin to the Killzone series (cue comments about it being more realistic that way) but I'm getting there again slowly.
Have you downloaded the latest patch? You should find the look mechanic has dramatically improved, less input lag and much snappier. A lot of folks are returning to BF3 now that EA/DICE finally seem to have got their act together.
BF has never really been known for their single player modes infact im sure its only the recent iterations that included it. I never play the campaigns waste of time imo. If you enjoyed the tank level look out for Armoured Kill DLC dropping in a few months.
Ok so Ive spent maybe £100 on BF3 but its money well spent imo. I can spend that on a night out with the missus and this is much more fun

I think its stilll far too sensitive for sticks even when turned right down.
More importantly, the lag is still terrible for low pingers. Every single server for the Europe region (91 on my browser) has the full 5 bars for ping. Thats nonsense really and unplayable for me. |I am having to choose games in Asia and Austalia to even make my shots register. If I return to ADSL I will get a 45ms ping instead of 9ms, but then I end up with half a meg instead of 40.
I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place as far as gaming is concerned and have taken to camping on Kharg IslaND.

Scratch that, I was wrong. It is still unplayable 9 times out of 10.
Back to co-op in future.
