BF4 Ordered

[link to this post]

Just ordered my copy of BF4
Not impressed by the beta but I only played it for a few hours and it is only a beta so I'm expecting the game to be better.
I ordered from game as they give instant access to all chopper upgrades. It was £4 more than at shopto but at least I don't have to mess around waiting to get decent weapons and defence systems.

Just have to try and fit it in with GTA
Saving up to buy an apartment at the mo :/

Wouldn't touch Game with a Barge Pole, besides didn't you say it was basically junk and you would not be buying it,i can understand the change of mind if you are getting the next generation console versions, but since you are sticking with that ageing hardware i don't really think you are going to see much difference.

I bought a garage yesterday, but it's a hard slog earning bunces isn't it? If I don't get my 500k from Rockstar pretty soon, I may get bored. You need to be at it non stop and if I hadn't got the free sports car for buying a garage, I doubt I would ever have been able to buy one. They need to up the rates on most of the activities in my opinion.

That's really sneaky so I'm going to cancel my order now and re-order from shopto

Right that's cancelled
Will re-order tomorrow

I cancelled on the chat thing. I said "thanks and good bye" She said "your welcome" laugh

I won't be buying BF4 even on the PS4 until I have seen it properly demoed and am confident it is in fact a proper next gen build. They bleat on about engine scalability across generations but I don't quite buy it. If it does look anywhere near the PC version we keep seeing, I might change my mind.

What else do you expect from Game and there Customer service, any retailer worth there salt would have tried to keep your order .

There was a time when Game where the only place I would ever buy games from, frim there many retail / town and city shops to there online store.

They got extremely greedy and very unreliable regarding delivery times and launch dates and I don't think I have used them for about 4 years or since I found Shopto.

Now there have been done bad reports regarding customer service and Shopto,I even think Spook had a Run in with them because they kept a payment of 10 p tongue from him .

Now as of yet they have treated me extremely good, which I expect if I'm honest because I class myself as a VIP customer and have spent a small fortune on there site.

The day they don't will be the day I look elsewhere ,but where else there is to go is another matter because we are not exactly inundated with reliable online game sites .

[re: mrnelster] [link to this post]

Have to say both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One look very close if not on Par with a nice PC.

Playstation 4 v Xbox One

Another Comparison

Its a Breath of fresh air to finally get a Playstation 4 version of the game that actually looks better than its Xbox One Counterpart, and i just hope in the future we get the ultimate edition on the Playstation 4.

last generation the 360 took all the spoils when it came to multi platform games and always 99% of the time had the better version but finally Sony seems to have got this console developer friendly and we won't be seeing shoddy Playstation 4 ports ever again.wink

I play survivals to build up the cash quick. I can't remember the name of the one I play, it's where the scrapyard is on the right of the town. Wave 10 is 20k cash like you say and on that map you can just sit in one of the tin warehouses and avoid the choppers and let stuff come into you.

If you do that one or two times a night along with other missions you soon rack up the cash! I bought the £390k apartment last week in the hills the view is amazing smile Now trying to fill the 10 slot garage with beautiful cars!!

I have $180k in the bank at the mo so maybe able to get one tonight.

Good article here about them http://www.officialplaystationmagazine.co.uk/2013/10...

Last night one of my American friends called a hooker up to his apartment. My Scottish mate was having a lap dance with 3 Americans doing the jerk sign around him. laugh laugh Sad maybe but very funny.

Hahaha that is pretty hilarious! I had no idea you could bring a hooker back to the apartment, I assume you get them in the car off the street and then park in your garage and she is in your apartment?

Yea my mate bought the 240k apartment and it's exactly the same interior as mine except the view is different. He still has an amazing view but the 390k one is a bit better. It certainly isn't worth the extra 150k though so if I was you I would buy one of the 200+ ones and leave the top end. I wish I had done that now!

Once Rockstar give us this 250k then I am going to use the money to buy a couple more cars. I bought the Coquette I think it is basically the Corvette over the weekend that was 150k and is an absolute beast. I want to tune it up but it costs soooo much to tune the cars frown

Preordered the PC version from Timey's favourite supplier, Amazon. It was the cheapest I could find it for at £30.99 with free 1st class delivery. Incs China Rising..

I hope they have a decent amount of maps then as I'm getting suspicious about EA's strategy for milking BF fans.

I think the Xbone looks like a major improvement aswell, although the lens flare thing is a bit much for my old eyes. That said, the PS4 version looked a little dark for my liking aswell.

Anyway, the crisp outlines and greater draw distance will probably mean I will give it a go. I've always really wanted to like BF3, but the lag ruined it for me. This time round I will take a different approach with a lot more sniping. smile

And there was I thinking I was special... You just cut and pasted that didn't you? Send out a survey whilst at it, eh? wink

To be honest, I don't know as I don't tend to scrutinise stuff too much these days (doctor's orders). tongue

But, what I will say is it bothers me that there's gonna be versions for old (current) gen consoles and new as it smacks of holding back a little in developmental efforts. It makes perfect sense in a way of course as that's where the existing market is but I'd like to see what devs make exclusively of the next gen. In many ways, BF4 looks exactly like BF3 to me but then, I've been playing on a PC. I can't turn all the eye candy right up to the max but for these types of games - online fps - it's more about the competitive edge and people have been known to turn down detail levels to reduce the appearance of cover etc (I'm talking about BF2 and BF1942 really tho I expect the same applies to BF3).

For me, I like good graphics of course - it helps create an immersive atmosphere to play in so I prefer graphics detail to having a higher K|D ratio. I like to just wander around looking at all the pretty stuff like clouds and flowers. smile If they do a good job for Xbox 360 and PS3 this time I will be impressed and I hope they do manage that of course. Are you getting BF4 then Mr N? And if so, for the PS3 or PS4? I'm looking forward to the return of Commander Mode just out of curiosity though I fear it will quickly become a nuisance like it used to be with artillery going off every 5 seconds.

Incidentally, what do you guys think is a fair price to pay for a game then?

For:

PC?
Xbox 360/PS3?
Xbox One/PS4?

Little survey for ya. laugh

I had you down as being a bit special a long time ago. tongue

I'll probably pick up BF4, on the PS4 after Christmas at some point. Most of my friends will be on COD Ghosts so I suspect I will devote a fair amount of time to that as well.

As for the fair price for a game? That's a difficult one. I don't think any should be above forty quid to be honest, as Sony exclusives are generally far superior to multi plats and they sell at forty quid. For PC games I'm not really qualified to comment, but as there is no subsidy when buying the rig to start with, I would say thirty is fair for the big AAA titles. As you said, I like pretty games too and understand that that is always going to cost more to produce.

What I hate is games like Skyrim suffering technically on one platform, yet still being farmed out at full price. I am really disappointed that I never got to play it, but I refused to pay for a shoddy port. frown

Hopefully the new architecture will mean this never happens again.

BF4 review from USA

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

Last night me and my Scottish mate were playing GTA and we could see our American BF3 mates coming on the PS and playing BF4
After a few hours one of them (long time level 100 BF3) joined us in GTA. I asked him what BF4 is like. He said "Don't waste your money, they ruined it by trying to make it more like COD, the maps are pretty cool but it sux"

We all agreed that GTA is much more fun to play.
So I don't think I'll bother getting it

**Edit**

I managed to buy an apartment last night. Nice place, it cost me $253k
Just in the process of filling the garage now, trouble is all the cars I steal have trackers fitted so I can't get them into my garage frown

Can't you take the stolen cars to a chop-shop? tongue

How come your US buddies are all playing BF4 already? That would be on the PS3 yeah? Apart from playing like COD were there any other issues?

To tell the truth, the BF4 demo was nothing like COD when I played it. Though it's definitely true that BF3 morphed more into COD-like arcade style gameplay when it was released though more in looks I thought.

What maps were these guys playing then? Must've been small sized infantry levels? When there's a high concentration of players in a confined space it gets more than a little hectic with people respawning every other minute at times. I wonder if their gaming experience was skewed by being similar to one of the type of maps you get in the BF3 Close Quarters?

The large scale BF4 demo map with choppers and tanks was much like the traditional Battlefield experience to be sure. I enjoyed it anyhow. Not cancelling. smile

Yea you can take cars to the chop shop but if they are expensive they tell you they are too hot and won't let you in.

BF4 is out over in USA on the PS3
He didn't say alot about it as we were in the middle of a hillbilly battle when he joined. He isn't impressed with it. I'm going to get it but don't think I'll be spending much time on it as GTA is too much fun to leave smile

I preferred BFBC to BF3 at the beginning but it grew on me. Not sure I'll give BF4 the chance at the moment.

BF4 launched in the USA on Monday for all platforms- Europe has to wait till Friday or if you play on PC and get a digital code can just use a us vpn to unlock the game.

As for the dlc, in about 3-6 months Origin and other online stores will likely put premium to half price- so 20 pounds for the remaining 4 dlc.

As for the price of games most console titles are 45-35 pounds on launch- pc varys from 35-20 but it all depends on the publisher.

As for BF4 i would look at the independent online reviewers online as they will give the most unbias view of the game.

First of you have to have a full retail copy of Battlefield 4 to make that statement....smile

Don't worry myself and mrnelster will tell you what your missing on the FPS. From the minute we get are mits on a Killzone Shadowfall.....I'm going to bombard these forums with Shadowfall posts to the extent that it will make you wish you had pre/ ordered a Playstation 4.

I'm even going to tell you how awesome Battlefield 4 looks on next gen....just cause I can wink

It's not debatable to me I know that playing GTA V is the most fun I've ever had playing a game. Me and my mates are always laughing about something. I really enjoy it. I never knew killing Hillbillys would be so funny laugh

Here's my mate http://bf3stats.com/stats_ps3/ramone1976 he has 1574 hours of BF3 play time and he's not impressed with BF4

Look forward to hearing your review of BF4 on the PS4

Ah ok. I didn't realise we were so close to BF4 launch date. Was expecting late November for some reason.

So, there's a good summary of maybe why your pal in the States is so disappointed with BF4 over at Trusted Reviews:

As anyone whos seen Battlefield 3 on PC and on PS3/Xbox 360 can tell you, there are some visual compromises and a few major gameplay ones in the console versions, and these have only been amplified by the focus on next-generation tech.

Next gen then Lt Swanny, sir!? smile

Well unfortunately but not for me all of my Playstation 4 games I have ordered are FPS..

So you sure will get the Timey treatment all about the games and the Playstation 4 come November 29th.....

If ever there was a day I didn't want Shopto.net to let me down it would be November 29th..they never have and they better not on this day ....I will be frightened to go to the toilet in case the courier knocks the door with a feather and disappears 5 seconds after....mad

Wish I felt the same but unfortunately I've got a little bored with it all, don't know if it's because I know what's on the horizon or what.?

I know one thing that there is not many suppliers that have any copies of the game and I'm certainly not knocking the game as I think if your into this sort of thing then you got gaming heaven.

But much prefer to play The Last Of Us for the third time and a decent FPS which hopefully will be Shadowfall in a month....

The more I see of this game the more impressed I am .

Thats not exactly true in the form of looks only if you compare how they showed Battlefield 3 on a High End PC where all console owners got the shock of there lives once they purchased the game.

I agree that game don't play as good as they seem to,but the game looks drop dead gorgeous on Playstation 4 and Xbox One and miles apart from what i saw on a Playstation 3.

Now weather the game is any good we will have to wait and see,and since you are a avid battlefield fan i will look forward to your thoughts and opinions.

Even though i think it looks stunning on next generation consoles you will have had a clear 4 week start to get the feel of what you like and what you don't and if its good or if its bad.

And based on that information i may not decide to get it and choose KNACK tongue Instead because it desperately needs the sales and only some bloke called Nelster has bought it.blush

here some footage, I admit it looks nice, but I am not a fan of FPS in general and even if I would be saying the game has to be good ultimately to play and not just look nice, but if its graphics you into the PC version at least looks nice.

On the next gen I do expect the gap to close a lot so whats in that video is probably close to what will be on the PS4 in visuals.

Last night I filled my garage up with nice cars, don't have money to buy the super cars yet. Scottish mate bought a cheaper apartment about $130 which comes with a 6 car garage and it's really close to mine and is fine just doesn't have a view. Gaming for me has now changed into having fun. The people I play with have changed as well, they used to swear and call names but now they laugh and joke about laugh

netflix customers care.

sky movies is a (overpriced) scheduled broadcast mechanism which in todays age is dated, its why services like netflix exist.

Yeah i do use my playstation 3 as a media device for streaming my MyBook live stuff refference Twonky or whatever they call it.

Saying that its hit and miss when it actually shows the media in the folders, lots of times it says no data and i normally end up connecting to my book live and having to do another scan or Rebuild of all the data i have added.

When it works its nice and it means i don't have to have this iMac on to stream data, now according to reports the playstation 4 has no media server capabilities and won't play MP3 either.

Seems all these basic things you expect to work with next generation consoles are now been revealed that they won't after all the pre/orders have been placed.

I thought that's what was meant by "legacy headsets" and will be dealt with in the immediate firmware update they're on about?

In other news, the pulse is a lovely headset, stylish modern design and extremely comfortable. But useless without the tuppence USB receiver that comes with it. And guess what? After mine being broken by the kids, it seems its not possible to purchase a replacement as Sony never catered for replacement parts. How wrong is that?

Still trying to decide what to do, but I think Sony UK receiving some sustained and repetitive correspondence will be a good start.

Well what a load of rubbish that is. The graphics are terrible compared to BF3 and even worst compared to GTA V
Even if the graphics were ok (PS4) it's still wouldn't be ok there's far too much stuff happening on the screen with HUD's, edges of your goggles and peoples names etc showing.
I want to trade it in
I played last night for a couple of hours, at the end I couldn't wait for the map to finish so that I could go and play GTA

If BF4 was going to be great I was going to use that as an excuse to buy a PS4. Unless GTA gets successfully ported to PS4 I'm keeping my PS3

It's graphically very poor on the PS3 and game play is also rubbish, far too much [censored] on the screen that interferes with you line of sight. The water textures are a joke. I had a good look at a parked car, the level of detail was extremely bad. There is no comparison to GTAV

I'm sure it will look fantastic on the PS4
But in my opinion it was only released on the PS3 as a way to make some quick money. It should have been PS4 only. But even then there is too much unneeded junk on the screen

Well I did say when I downloaded and played the Playstation 3 beta it looked chronic and thought it was a Playstation One game based on the textures and graphics.

I will be watching very carefully what the Yanks have to say in 13 days as they have a clear 2 week playstation 4 release date before us in Europe .

I have looked at a lot of people's reviews on the playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions and the majority are quite impressed, may be they are not as fussy as myself.

Plenty of time to cancel pre/ order and I won't hesitate once I see what they have to say about the Playstation 4 version, only then will I make a informed decision on getting it or not.

There is not exactly a lot to choose from having got Ghosts and Killzone and the cancelation of Watchdogs.

you talk as if visuals is all that matters. you buy games just because they look good?

there will be people who dont like bf4, you have to respect their opinions.

I am not talking about myself, as since I am not into FPS games, its unlikely I will play it, but there will be FPS fans who play it and dont like it.

Totalbiscuit who reviewed the game said he thinks its good but he forsee's himself getting bored quickly as it offers nothing new in terms of gameplay over bf3. His opinion not mine. A guy who has played a lot of bf3.

It's a progressive thing. If I try to go back to PS3 games after Killzone Shadowfall, I know it won't last five minutes. I struggle with a second play through to games I love, been there and all that. To me, it's a one off experience and cinematic story lines are important.

Then it's onwards and upwards. smile

Exactly....that's why I am not sure why people want to play old retro games from the past on there newer consoles, never have understood it and never will

It's a bit like playing the new drop dead gorgeous looking Tomb Raider which played and looked brilliant and then playing the awful looking first games that first graced the Playstation one.

At the time I thought they were brilliant because that was the advancement and technology at the time, but when you look at even attempt to play them now you actually say to yourself....oh my god these look terrible .

If a game looks stunning it usually has the gameplay to match....and oh my god Killzone Shadowfall looks next generation all the way?

this si a genre thing.

FPS is generally something where you pretend to be in a real world, so FPS gamers tend to be very into visuals. They overate resolution as well.

Since i play games to be in a fantasy world, many games I play eg. cartoony, anime based etc. the game only has to look good enough to play and look nice but doesnt need to be photo realistic.

If I had 2 games the same with one on a more powerful system with better graphics, yes I would pick that game, but where we are different is I value other things above graphics. But I think thats because you play FPS games and I dont.

I enjoyed Borderlands 2 but it got a bit "samey" fairly quickly.

True - and one very annoying characteristic is that if you die (dont manage to get a kill during the last stand) all enemies health gets reset.

This is especially annoying when you battle B.U.N.K.3.R

I think Handsome Jack must be the only character who gets more sadistic as the game progresses...
