steam full of people moaning about 720p, seems modern gamers only care about pixel count.
Yep just realised that, last ff i played was back on the ps2 though the series has been a bit hit and miss with some titles.
Well, pixels do make a picture!
I suspect, it has been a direct conversion from probably an XBox version, with no attempt at adding PC-needed stuff - much like the original version of Resident Evil 4...

I've always felt it was all too tedious, from various reviews going around on the series.
Plus, its rather too anime for me...
its from the ps3 version hence the size.
CS are compressed more than the ps3 version and tbh 720 locked in this day and age is just not on
but there is a fix to run it at 1440p already
see how lazy this is it had taken 3-4 days to make a fix for it
god damn it Square.
the alternative was probably no PC release. Its a minor miracle they even brought this out for pc.
curious where is the fix? and is it only 1440p or multiple resolutions?
It probably doesnt look any better unless is a native 1440p monitor, but in turn has a performance hit.

They are only really harming themselves if they don't release for the PC - if they are worried about "piracy", then release through Steam or Origin, or if they really want to annoy people, Ubisoft...

Well I tried with the GeDoSaTo tool and without, observations are, it adds a bit of sharpness. Other points no comments yet.
Reason is in the game I am noticing massive graphical enhancements over the PS3/360 version, e.g. better lighting effects, can see reflections of things on the floor in chapter 2, definitely not there in console versions. Since I only tested a minute or so without GeDoSaTo I want to go back to that part of the game using only the default game details and see if those are enhancements from GeDoSaTo or if SE added it in.
Playing the game at 60fps feels weird tho, especially when cutscenes are at 30fps so sometimes cutscenes transition into in game scenes so jumping from 30fps to 60fps and 60fps feels like I am in fast forward, not as immerse. I am going to see if I can cap at 30fps as I think is an option for that in GeDoSaTo.
So my view has changed a bit, I agree now given how quick this GeDoSaTo tool implemented the ability to adjust resolution etc. I agree the devs should have put that option in game. Although I dont agree with all the hype over 720p vs 1080p; still. I will post back later about the extra lighting effects etc.
Also loading times on the PC are pretty much 0, which is a really nice feeling, on the consoles is lots of "now loading" and I am not even playing it of an ssd, just a single 3TB WD red drive.

Sounds like a tacit admission that high frame rates aren't as important as you have previously proclaimed? I've told you loads of times that 1080p 30fps locked is perfect.
The Order 1886 has amazing visuals at 30fps (as does DriveClub) and mimics the cinematic experience I suspect most of us would relate to. TLOU re-mastered is beautiful because of the increased resolution, not the increased frame rate.
A higher native resolution is undeniably better. You can argue it is not strictly necessary, but not that it isn't an improvement.

tested now, and the lighting affect is still there.
The loss of sharpness is only slight and have to look hard for it. I can see the fine detail in hope's hair e.g. its easily good enough.
My monitors native res is 1680x1050.
But without using that 3rd party tool gpu usage is about 1/5th So it seems to add extra stress to gpu for little benefit.

for me its about consistent framerates.
But I do prefer the feel of 30fps vs 60fps for sure, 60fps feels too fast.

I don't
I do. If it's a fast paced game (racing or twitch shooters) then some feel 60fps can be beneficial. But to me, I like my (third person in particular) shooter/adventure games to feel more atmospheric. Experiments which doubled the movie industry standard frame rates from 24 to 48fps got mixed reviews, with many feeling the images felt too real. A bit like going to the theatre with the lights turned up too brightly I suspect.
And that would be carp.

I was Kidding and just winding you up.Which isn't to difficult .
Consider this.A Xbox One and a stable network
I went on Drive Club again this evening and it still Fooked Up with no online features, getting to be a bit fascicle if you ask me and a real kick in the teeth for playstation plus subscribers, which is about everyone i would say given you have to pay £40 Bucks to play online
This has to go down to a Disaster launch of the highest order, what is interesting is reading the stuff about why this is happening with a lot of gaming people saying its not Sony Fault but network code in the game is knackered and that responsibility lies with the developer.

yes its fine on racing, but games like final fantasy 13 it doesnt feel right.
Sadly the method I thought I could cap to 30fps wont work. So I am sort of getting used to it after playing it for some hours.

There's an interesting quote in the wiki article I took the information in my previous post from.
In the motion picture industry, where traditional film stock is used, the industry standard filming and projection formats are 24 frames per second (fps). Historically, 25 fps was used in some European countries. Shooting at a slower frame rate would create fast motion when projected, while shooting at a frame rate higher than 24 fps would create slow motion when projected.
Like everything, I suspect you would get used to it and then struggle with the norm, or at least the current norm. Take 4k for example. I think it will eventually make for fantastic television, but for movies I'm not so sure. I suspect post processing will be used to add back some of the grit that makes movies immersive in the first place. Grit that frame rate and lighting currently creates. I wouldn't want Man of Steel to look like the National Geographic channel or Eastenders.
