Origin Spyware?

[re: MrSaffron] [link to this post]

Consider myself old school regards to FPS's. With my favourite shooters being the original CoD and CoD:UO and MoH series', and to an extent the original BF (set in WW2)

Lost interest in them when they (IW) ditched the WW2 format in favour of modern warfare. However i loved BF2 what feels like way back when, despite not being truely happy with the standard 'hold the flags' format I did buy BFBC2 but it didn't hold my attention mainly due to the overuse of Snipers. I always felt the old school CoD were the more close quarters style, and BF2 was the wide open theatre. Fond memories of Carentan Map (CoD) and Strike at Karkand (BF2)

This means my interest is high in BF3 and i am thinking about buying.

But i read about this EA Origin (DRM) criticism and it puts me off. Yes i know the bottom line is if i want to play it, i have to accept the EULA, but the last time i installed a game with deep intrusive [so called]protection, it was a 'mare to uninstall.

Apparently in Germany the EULA is considered against the (their) Law. i wonder if it would head a similar way in the UK.

So, is there Sniper whoring in BF3?

Snipers - plenty of scope for hiding in the maps I've seen, but enough weapons to deal with that.

e.g. the glint off of the scope, muzzle flash, and wasting some ammo clearing common sniper spots.

Not had a game ruined by them yet, usually enough cover and dead ground you can get around it and complete objective.

Throw a rocket at them - probably a more hated way to die than being sniped and as such a nice revenge! smile

Also get the IR scope on if you really can't pick them out as it makes it so easy to see them. Incidentally use them whenever you are underground (e.g. damavand peak) or at night like tehran highway.

In reply to a post by time2die:
Another reason why i think the xbox live as a paid service is by far superior to a free one and another reason why games such as MW3 will be on my platform of choice and that from now is the 360.

I don't think the issue is pay vs free as such, it's more that Microsoft pay developers to support their games on Live and discourage the same support on other services.
