Allowance and Usage - imac

[link to this post]

Hi all, new to the forum. I use a mac at home and my boys have mac books, got fed up cleaning viruses from PC's and rebuilding. We have a 10Gb usage cap (BT) and now and again go over the limit so incur charges. I am suspicious as we were on holiday in August and yet bust our limit by 9Gb! There was someone at home but he didn't use the net much - I have asked about security and checked - our router is password protected.

I need something that I can check the usage with and keep an eye on it. Anyone know of any plug-ins or widgets for macs ?

It's an application, not a widget or plug-in, but have a look at SurplusMeter

ps

If you really want a widget I found this one, but I know nothing about it beyond the information on that page.

A number of people are reporting odd usage levels from BT Total during August, their system may have messed up

Considering there were apparently excess usage charges I think that needs careful investigation by BT

If you can't fix it with a hammer you've got an electrical problem.

Careful examination of the Mac will more likely prove to be of interest IMO...

Two kids, plus iPlayer probably adds up to quite a bit, and that assumes they don't even touch Youtube, or any filesharing networks !
