What a totally stupid suggestion ! A recipe for a law suit when a visitor electrocutes themselves.

Just get some metal cable shielding and half a dozen masonary nails. Ten minutes - job done.

That's how the job should have been done in the first place but there's too much cable there now to do that neatly without trimming off some of it, and as it appears that that piece of cable is Openreach responsibility I don't want to do that. I'll probably give them a call to report animal damage to the cable and make sure that when they come to fix it they do it neatly so the animals can't get to it again.

I agree. when the engineer comes to renew the cable, if he hasn't got the nowce to see it needs protecting, that's their problem.

Get real, the pair of you. Millions of cables are happily run outside buildings, with no problems what so ever. Lets see what happens when you get the engineer out, 'fox damage' .............

When I was dealing with businesses I found some that had BT cables coming underground to the premises then surfacing like the current problem, sometimes going up to wall to first-floor offices, had BT-fitted protective covers. One reason was to prevent vandalism.

(Not that such covers are necessarily proof against vandals. The bowling pavilion in the park near here had a substantial metal cover fitted over the outside plastic drain pipe from the wash-basin after it had been removed a few times. Come Nov 5 a rocket was inserted at the bottom and set off. Blew the cover half off the wall).
