Moving from Pipex

[link to this post]

The system is down is all I get
Not the ISP but the accounts, they dont even know my
landline number it says I dont have an account now.

All I want is a MAC number, thank god for my lovely
wife of 25 years next month, who has the patience
of a saint. Ofcom is my next port of call as I'am sick
off it, why oh why cant you just go online and get
the MAC number. They make it hard thats why coz
they want mug punters or grumpy old guys like me
to keep stum and cough up the dough each month.

Shifty angry scouser livin in Slough (thats another gripe)

They may be stalling...should be two ways to get a MAC for you as a consumer, and if their computers say no that is not your concern, i.e. they should have someone generate it another way

Send them an e-mail requesting your MAC, state that you will not accept further delays and in 5 days you will make a formal complaint to OFTEL or who ever.
The script monkeys are told to keep putting you off by lying, but when faced with someone who can fine them heavily they tend to get on with it.
At the moment you have no proof that you called or what was said.
They will simply deny you called and avoid a penalty.

Since the 5 day rule came in many ISP's try all sorts of tricks to delay your leaving but Oftel do not listern to them, it is 5 days and you must have one.
System down is their problem, no account details is their problem, etc etc

Get it in writing.

Scare them by using the wording from General Condition 22, and it will show you are serious. NOTE: Sat/Sun do not count towards the five days

In reply to a post by peepoil:
make a formal complaint to OFTEL

He'd have to wind the clock back 5 years; Oftel ceased to exist in 2003 tongue.

It won't make you feel better, but I've been waiting a month so far, despite constantly chasing on a line I've got with them. They won't issue a mac, wanted me to agree to a new 12 month contract to get the enhanced upload even though they say 3 months online (and the reason i can't change online is because the "mypipex" is broken - it's always broken.

Basically they are totallly and utterly uninterested in the ofcom regulations, they couldn't give a stuff. My complaint to ofcom was completely worthless, even though I contacted the person heading up the open case about Pipex's behaviour.

Edit: Oh yeah, and I forgot, last time I actually got a mac it was invalid anyway.

I'm not sure if it still applies, but when I had severe problems with Pipex about 18 months ago, I found that they took much more notice of faxes than from any other form of communication. Expecially when I faxed a formal letter pointing out that if they did not refund the £200+ that they owed me within 14 days I would take them to the Small Claims Court.
