Internet authentication failed on Thomson TG585v7

I've been trying to set up a Thomson TG585v7 gateway but it fails to connect to the internet. Four of the five lights on the router go green, one goes red. A message comes up saying: "Your internet authentication failed...Log in as a more privileged user".

When I try to log on at the relevant page, it asks me for a username and password but as I haven't been given either I've entered the ones I use for my "old" Speedtouch router but of course they aren't recognised. Another message comes up: "Name or password entered for Thomson Gateway on dsldevice.lan:80 was incorrect".

How do I get access to the Thomson Gateway and get my router fully switched on to get access to the internet?

Try Administrator with a blank password.

So did it work?

Did the ISP supply it, or did you buy it from a shop?

HI have you checked any labels on the router . Quite often the default user and password are on a label stuck to the router.

Tried your suggestions, and thanks for them, but didn't work. Got Gateway from ISP and it was free...

ask ISP for password if they supplied it, may have locked it for remote access or something.

This has to be repeated (inputted) twice. Some of the links I gave don't work without the user and pass.
