Thanks in advance Grahame

Why buy one? BT will not install your for you but will use their own.

The rules / law are clear about it, you cannot change the master socket yourself unless it has a detachable lower half to the face plate which is all you can tamper with.

Hi MHC, Yes they will install one for you and charge £125 for two minutes work, I thought I read somewhere on these forums that you could change anything from the box on the outside wall where it comes into the building obviously not but £125 is a lot of money

Modernish BT installations have the demarcation point outside the house. Usually the demarcation point is the BT internal master socket. What sort/type of BT master socket do you have?

No, not if you have an old style master - the demarcation point will be that socket.

And it is not just 2 minutes work. How does the technician get there? Star Trek type transportation ? Or drive?

Thanks John my socket is the old seventies type so that would be BTs cut off point, Still might replace it though

Thanks Grahame
