Cabinets?

[link to this post]

Does fibre co-exist in the same cabinet as copper or is a new one necessary?
If the former, then is there any way a passer-by can tell that there is fibre there?

Just wondering before I go in search of my local cabinet.

Openreach have stated they intend to use stand alone FTTC cabinets, top box's onto existing cabinets, and re-shell where the existing cabinet shell is replaced with a larger all in one design. So far have only seen stand alone cabinets but the other options may be used later.

Thanks for that info. Any suggestions as to where I might see pictures of the two types?

I have taken a couple of photos of my local cabinet(s).

Does the metal one look like a fibre cabinet?

At the time it was installed, many months ago now, there was also extra cabling added to the ducts going back towards the exchange.

The plastic cabinet seems to be kept clear but the metal one looks as if it hasn't been opened for months.

My objective in asking about all this is to establish, before I approach BT, whether fibre might have been installed months ago but never connected to customers' copper.

Lots of cabinets that look like that and are nothing to do with fibre, as the trials only started a month or two ago and if not in a trial area then probability says nothing to do with fibre.

Sorry. Add space plus the numeral and they should. However Mr Saffron has answered my question.
Thanks all.
