Hi, been having issues with purple cloud. I've had a email account with them for a while on one of their own domains (myname.purplecloud.net) with email forwarding from another host that had my domain.
I moved my domain to purple cloud on Friday morning using their web based system, since then - nothing, no email - the domain is dead - If i ping it, i get this:
Ping
[alexlyne.co.uk]
Bad destination
Bad destination
etc
The only thing I can see is that the name servers in the whois file, do not match the name servers on the purple cloud control panel - but its been 36 hours now, so if it had been changed it should have propogated around the web by now.
I've raised 2 tickets with purple cloud, but haven't even had the decency of a reply, and they don't have a phone number. I'm less than impressed with their service. As soon as I get a peep out of them i'm moving to another host, but I'll need to contact them to do that aswell!
Do purple cloud actually exist any more - or is it a faceless server still churning away in a basement with no one looking after it any more!
Anyone got any hints or tips? any phone numbers for purple cloud?

The list nameservers....
Name servers:
dns0.getsurfed.com
dns1.getsurfed.com
are not answering queries for your domain - which could be the issue. A nameserver change is generally reflected in Nominet's WHOIS within a few minutes.
Did you enter new values to change them? or did Purple Cloud? If you did, can you post what you tried to change them to, so we can see if they are valid.

I put the new name servers in the website of just-the-name.co.Uk before the transfer, but I think purple cloud were supposed to change them anyway as part of the transfer. My purple cloud control panel shows the correct name servers, but that obviously hasn't actually been changed and unlike the old host, that is not a user updateable setting on purple cloud. I'm guessing it's probably a fairly trivial thing for purple cloud to fix, if they only bothered to check their support tickets!

Purple Cloud support is non-existent. There have been loads of Email problems in the last feww months and support are nowhere to be seen.
I've moved to TSOhosts this week and the support is brilliant - a free phone number and helpful clued up guys answer immediately.

An idea for you - try making the change via the Nominet site.
Login using the email you registered the domain with. If you don't know your password, try requesting a reminder.
Never logged in this way as a domain owner but as a tag holder, there are options to change the nameservers.

I have moved it all to TSO host. Thanks for the info about nominet - cost me £11.75 but I got the tag changed thro nominet (i'm sending the invoice to purple cloud!) and TSO host were excellent. 0800 number, answered in 2 rings, understanding and clued up person on the line told me what i needed to do. Just waiting for all the DNS servers to update and hopefully it should all be working in a few hours.

Update for info
Move this domain to TSO host, as well as another now as i'm seriously impressed with their service. Had some issues setting up my outlook email this morning - so I raised a ticket - 2 minutes I had an email back!
One of my friends who is a network adminstrator was also impressed with the control panel, there is a serious amount of things you can configure.
Definately recommend this to anyone.
Oh yes, and i did get a reply from purple cloud after 3 days, but it was all resolved by then!

Mirrors my excellent experience with TSOHost support - such a relief after Purple Cloud!
