Too many re-syncs!

[link to this post]

Over a period of two hours this morning, (in my absence, PC not switched on) my router re-synced five times, due, I suspect, to statically charged wet snowfall! When I did switch on the connection speed was 384 kbps and SN Margin was 30dB. Never seen it that high!!

I forced another re-sync, SNM fell to the normal 12dB and sync rose to 6720, somewhat higher than usual. Running a speed test produces a download speed of a wonderful 252 kbps frown

Assuming no more re-syncs for a while, how long until my download speed recovers?

Present stats:

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 6,720
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 1.05 / 3.55
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.5 / 19.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 24.0 / 40.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 19.0 / 11.0

In theory it should only be a few hours for big changes like that.

But the 'up to' 5 days wait, with 3 days often the average may apply!

I reckon overnight at worst.

I used to force similar very low and big jumps when my profile was a bit low due to less severe low syncs. It always adjusted overnight, but the swings weren't as huge as the OP.

TY.

The snow shouldn't affect the profile rise to accord with the sync speed. Unless you are losing sync again.

No, it's been stable for the last few hours. There have been a number of huge thunderhead clouds around today that I assume where producing static. Static rain also causes me problems and I can hear that on the car radio on AM. It sounds like a Geiger counter on the Iranian border.......

Update 19.49hrs: Download speed almost back to normal

Further update 20.29hrs: Flashes of lightning outside and St Elmo's Fire on me moose wink I'm off!!

Looked at routers settings in my Lappy browser 2 days ago - I'd lost about 2meg - a router reboot sorted that, thankfully.
