Well the good news is the engineer came, tested line from my end no problems, he said that he didn't know why i was only getting 500 kbps downloads speed , but then went to exchange and he contacted someone at bt and asked for a reset of the ip profile, came back to my place and router was now showing
Connection Information
Line state: Connected
Connection time: 0 days, 18:41:44
Downstream: 4.656 Mbps
Upstream: 448 Kbps

so tested at bt speed test but it was still slow, but after a hour tried it again and it was on steroids , so it seemed to take ages for all the run throughs to the call centre's it is hopefully working ok, thanks for all the help ,
but i think bt would be better off changing their report handling
thanks all
