Re: Latest FTTC Rollout Schedule

Good news my exchange, Eastbourne Pevensey (SDPVNSY), is on the list for 2012. I hoped this might be happening as in the last month the route from the main road to the green cabinet on the estate has been marked out in surveyors paint. I'm hope for great things as I'm 2 miles from the exchange and get 3.4Mbps downstream on ADSL2

and as I look at this list again,
what it does not show is completion of existing exchanges 'claimed' to be FTTC already.

All the streets that the cabinets that are FTTC enabled, are VMedia streets.
Streets with no VM are still without FTTC.. yet they are the very ones that would signup, conversion of VM people is unlikely (even of they were not in a contract preventing it).

Anybody know where completion of an 'enabled' echange data can be obtained or lobbied for ?

It is amazazing what competition does. Where Cable exists BT cannot move fast enough to roll out FTTC. Where there is no competition they are in no rush at all

What it does highlight is the need for another infrustructure operator in the Urban non cabled areas

Amazing, isn't it. They could seal up the potential for competition in the future in some of the exchanges which will become more viable over time. Instead they are interested only in competing, rather than consolidating. It also highlights the monopoly mentality of BTW's management. They will only twitch when threatened, rather than be innovative.

Scottish Labour politician: No, but they are doing it deliberately.

It's the ISPs that get the customers, like Sky, TalkTalk etc.

BTW do nto determine or have any advance view of the roll out strategy -- that is determined by Openreach and is not shared in advance of lauch

I have to say that is very naive. The whole rollout has been in conjunction with Wholesale ,without which there would be nothing to handover at the headend. That isnt a problem . Wholesale providers need to liase with their direct and indirect customers.

The market tye -yes will have a view and help show where there would be a wholessale demand however but BTW as a wholesales CP does not get any advance warning of roll out or infulence those decisions - they are made within Openreach -and are not shared outside until announced

Do you seriously think BTW do not know what exchanges OPENREACH will require enabled? If you do you are seriously nave. They may not be handed a list but they will have enough information to know with a high degree of accuracy what is going on.niave
