I have found a site that appears to do crowd sourcing of wifi data

That onehhas picked up my neighbours ... but not one of my 5 appear there! Well away from the road, so maybe not enough power to be seen.

Also, neither of my Scottish ones are shown either!

EDIT Yet I can see loads of Networks from here, all secured except the BTWiFi things.

None anywhere near here, and InSSIDer is showing 12 including myself, sitting downstairs. There'd be more if I took the laptop upstairs.

But google knows where I am.

You can submit your local wifi data to them then, but quite why anyone would want to I do not know.

What's the point of this site?

If you are close enough you'll see the SSID anyway and if you're not, you won't!

well it could be useful for finding btwifi locations, better than the postcode granularity that the bt site gives.

Well it has picked up the private SSIDs of my 2 FON wifi routers but not the Public FON SSIDs !
They were mapped about 50m from actual location.

but not the Public FON SSIDs !

it may be that they are there, just the private one is displayed on top, thus masking it.
(they would have been found at the same time and location, )
their display does "have scope for improvement !"
