I have a student house next door

It coincidentally flashed last month when they had just moved in...
They obviously thought they had got lucky but I immediately noticed a giant slow down...

Sorry for the stupid question but have you put your SH in modem mode? If not the TPlink is getting a local address from the SH.

If you do have it in modem mode I think what happens is the virgin network sees the mac address of the router and registers it with a new IP address. If I have changed my router in the past (downstream of the SH in modem mode) the IP address from virgin always changes and hardly ever does at any other time.

In modem mode I don't think your SH should have or show an IP address as the config changes completely.
