Moved to diffrent pair - sync dropped by half

hi,

before my fault started i was synced at between 6500 - 7300 for years , now at 3776 kbps

i have been been moved to a new pair and here are my current stats

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3776 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 39.0 db 21.5 db
Noise Margin 6.1 db 25.0 db

my ISP is going to get a boost engineer out.

Am i right in thinking if its a bad pair there is not much can be done?

my ISP say BT are trying to say it is working with in what they would expect.

Yet my fault threshold before the fault is 5900 kbps.

Have you tried a quiet line test? With a corded phone connected via a microfilter to the test socket (nothing else connected), telephone 17070 and choose option 2 for a quiet line test.

It should be silent - if it isn't, then raise a fault with the folks that bill you for any voice line calls you make. Tell them of the noise and ask that it be fixed. In doing so, this will also help the broadband to go quicker.

Uh, I thought it was needed for the quiet line test.. apparently I might well be mistaken!

It's advisable if wanting to check router stats from the test socket. You probably just needed another cup of coffee.

Re the router stats, I'm told the ADSL cable will work direct into any socket anyway, but never tried it. The broadband signal is never filtered, just the phone side that needs the broadband signal filtering out when the router is powered up.

Tell the Boost engineer that a after a recent fault, most likely an E-side swap, your sync rate has been halved. The engineer can look on SEAM, or if they don't have access, ring the Coaches help desk, and have them check for the shortest E-sides and swap our pair on to that.

ISP told me that BTOR has said there are no spare pairs at the exchange to begin with.
They was originally going to do some underground cable work, due to no spare pair,
Then spare pair a become available which i was moved to last Thursday.

Below is the fault notes :
" Further work needed - Underground cable work required
passing back faulty e/side no good spare s in pcp E2 line is in service broadband speed slow on the e /side the correct d/ side is d86,pr6"

I forgot to add, during the fault period , i would sync between , 3000 to 3700.

So maybe there is another fault? that has not been picked up.

OK, so you have had your E-side swapped out, to clear the original fault, battery contact or some such. But no spares on cab means you can't go back on to the 'shorter' ones. The Boost engineer, if local, may have further info on the repair to the E-side cable. But until this is done, you'll just have to sit tight.

To say i have been moved to a different pair . Yet what i find strange, i have exactly the same problems as before, low sync (same sort of sync as before the move), erratic through put and ping.

Surely moving to a different pair you would not expect to see exactly the same problems as before, which i am.

If there is a (just guessing now) a major E-side issue to your cabinet, it might be that there are no spares on the 'better' cable.
